Will my PhD monthly income be taxable if got altogether?

As per University norms every PhD student who have started with their thesis will be getting a sum of monthly income. But although it has been promised but is pending from 1 year which will be given altogether so will it be taxable or not?

    Dear Aspirant,

The government has made provision fellowship while doing PhD in order to meet the expenses for paying fees, purchage of notes, books etc.PhD means Doctorate in philosophy. It is the last degree in education & most prestigious. It is awarded in two to three years of research work & after publication of research work. The basic qualification is post graduate in any stream, but the entry level for science is graduation.

So the amount received as fellowship is not taxable as per the provision of Income tax Act.

    Good luck.
