Will my bonus get deducted for the leaves that I have taken during Maternity?

I had taken maternity leave in the month of December. We get our bonus in the month of July. I had taken some 5 months leave at that time. Will my bonus get cut for this 5 months leave? Is it calculated on the basis of basic salary and get deducted if we take any type of leave? Can anybody tell me how does it work?

    Hi mam,

Bonus amount is granted to the employee irrespective of their work performance or designation . Bonus is offered only if the company earns more profit . To reward the employees for their work and motivate them , bonus is offered . Leaves availed on the mentioned days will impact the bonus amount . Obviously you would not got salary for the leave period . Similarly bonus is also considered . Contact your HR or read your company policies for more details on this

    Thanks !!!!

Hi. I dont think your bonus will be deducted for your maternity leave.

Ya the bonus is calculated based upon the basic salary + DA. So as you are eligible for receiving your salary during your maternity leave period , so i think you will surely receive your bonus.

The rules and policies vary from company to company so you can contact your company officials for more clarity regarding this.

    Best of luck. Thanks

    • Bonus is paid to the employee by the company only when the companyhas earned sufficient amount of profit.
    • Bonus amount is calculated on the amount of basic salary anddearness allowance.
    • Since Maternity leave is an paid leave, you must have received thesalary for period of five months of maternity leave.
    • As such , your's bonus will calculated on the basis ofthat andthere will be no deduction in the amount of bonus.
    • In order to make sure, you need to contact the human resource i.eHR manager, must ask him the policy of the company regarding the bonuspayment. As it may differs from company to company.
