Will I get maternity leave in my new company?

I joined to this new company 3 months back. A week back I came to know that I am 2 months pregnant. As I am new to this company and its not even a 6 months, will I get maternity leave over here? How many years service you should have to get this maternity leave? Should I need to leave this job during my delivery as I am not sure whether I will get this leave? Please suggest. What I do in this case?

    Hello Aspirant,

As per law,you are fully entitle to get the maternity leave of maximum 1 year.

There are two types of the maternity leave.

one is ordinary maternity leave for 26 weeks & additional maternity leave of another 26 weaks.

Additional maternity leave starts after expiry of the ordinary maternity leave.

minimum period is 2 to 4 weaks.

So don't worry,be happy & get more clearance from the manager Personnel/HR of your company.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Maternity leaves are granted for womens usually for 90 days but since you have joined the company newly and its not even three months . you may not be granted for leave of 90 days . Still you will get less number of leaves only . Its all depends on the HR decision . You can talk to your HR and ask for leave . Also if you feel ypu wanna rest you can quit the job . But if you signed bond agreement you need to pay penalty as you break the bond

    Please plan well and proceed

All the best !!! Thanks !!!

    Hi,

For sure you will get the maternity leaves as per the law. To get more details on the same you can directly discuss the same with your company HR. He/She will let you know everything.

Although in almost every company during the pregnancy, any women employee can avail 3 months leave as maternity leaves. There will be no deduction of salary for these 3 months. In case you require more leaves and having a balance of other leaves in your account then can merge those with your maternity leaves. If you donít have the balance, then you can have only one option in your hand i.e LWP (Leave Without Pay).

In some companies there is also an option of Special Maternity leave for 1 month. To take the same you need to submit the prescription from doctor advised to take rest for 1 month more.

    • Generally the number of days of maternity leave is 90days.
    • However the number of days differs depending upon the company.
    • It's quite difficult for you to avail the maternity leaveconsidering the fact that you are new to the company.
    • The company doesn't allows a new employee to take such a long leave.
    • In order to clarify your situation, you need to contact with the HRof your company.
    • He will assist you and will tell the companies policy regarding thematernity leave.
    • He will make you understand how to avail the leave if it'spossible.

But if you are a experience person and you have served your probation or you do not have any probation then you can take maternity leaves as it is your right.
