    Whether use of social sites in offices will hamper the efficiency of my employees?

    I am a business person into automobile sector the luxury segment. The work for my staff is very little that means this sector keeps us busy to a certain time. There is obviously a Wi-Fi connection so employees sometimes keep them busy in surfing social sites. My business is going okay but I wanted to ask that can it hamper the efficiency of my employees?

    YES it will hamper the efficiency.
    The reason i am saying this that in office there should be certain rules that must be followed.
    If you allow them to use these sites from your office premises than they get used to these sites and will always want to use them even when you have more work
    Also there is always a danger of some of them may use the internet for illegal purposes.

    You should allow them to surf the net , but it should be limited
    You should keep a close watch on them
    Since you deal in Luxury Segment cars you get high profile customers, so if staff has ample time ask them to utlise it knowing about the cars details ,improving their communication and presentations skills etc.

    As you are telling your business is going OK that means your employees are working well so there is no need to think about banning such things.

    This helps your employees in refreshing themselves which is an important thing as it makes your employees happier which is again

    important as it is a part of employees satisfaction.

    But you can keep slight control as these things can be some time very much addictive to some employees so you can instruct them at times such as in

    meetings that they are free to use these facilities but they must use them in limit,this will also send them a message that they are under observance

    so they will automatically limit the use of it.

    hello dearas you are saying that your business is going smoothly and there is no any problems so don't worry so much about it .but you should warn to employees not to using social sites during office hours because these little habits will take a huge face of problems.but employees do this for fresh so you also can not avoid it.you should tell them that their aim should be have a healthy environment of office.I think they will all be agree with your suggestions.thanks

    First of all every thing has advantages and disadvantages.surfing social networking by employees can give then some relief and joy they feel relaxed while doing job and can maintain good relations but excess is not acceptable better wi-fi be activated for making business relations and for relaxation and not for time pass ......

    Dear Aspirant,

    The efficiency of the employees depends upon the knowledge & interest to work.When you are giving less work to your employees,they keep themselves busy in surfing the social sites.It is nothing wrong in it.It is wrong when your employees take least interest to carry out the office works & take interest in doing some other work.You have to see that those employees prefer to complete the office works first.

    Develop a policy in this regard.Issue a notice to the employees that it is seen that the employees are taking interest in spending their time on computer by doing works on social sites.They are hereby directed to complete the official works in time,otherwise action will be taken against the concerned employees.

    Get acknowledgement from all the employees against the above notice.

    This way the employees will continue to prefer to complete the office works first.

    Ya any distraction in any form can hamper the efficiency of your employees..I think your employees your employees are grown up enough to realise the usefulness and harmful aspects of certain things..So i am sure they are not going to misuse the facilities provided to them..And as you say that the work of your staff is less so that also shows that if your employees utilise their time judiciously they can certainly do both their work and then can entertain themselves also by using social networking sites..

    So i think they should finish their work first and then indulge in social networking through wifi..But they should avoid using it during the time when they are performing their tasks as this can certainly hamper their efficiency and thus they will take more time in completing it as they are not doing it whole heartedly..

    So you observe your employees for some time and if you think they are misusing this facility , insteading of making this inaccessible to them, tell them that first they should complete their work and they are free to use it..I am sure they will see reason in this and do as you say...Good luck

    There are disadvantages more in using the social sites in the the offices because,it may waste the time and if you have faith in your employees and the work progress is good then you give them time for relaxation,I would like to suggest one thing that first of all you should implement as a trail for certain period of time so that you can know the status of the employee after implementing that if it seems to be ruining then you should leave the thought of doing that ALL THE BEST

    Hello,

    Social networking sites are very popular now-a-days, but they are not meant to be operated during official work.Work and personal interest should be kept aside.Many employer may have the tendency to log in to any social networking site whenever they will have less work pressure.One thing you can do,is to install such a system in each of the computers used by the employees that they will block any social networking site whenever any employee will try to open it when they are in office.Official computers are meant for official use only and not for any other use.So,install such system as soon as possible.

    Hi,
    Social sites may divert an employee during his work time, but banning it all together may cause frustration.
    So, better you may have restriction on the timings.Like, you can have it late evenings and during lunch hours,
    so that the employee may also feel relaxed and he would not be disturbed during his
    working hours

    In corporate culture they will provide individual system to for doing the company work

    In the company you never open the social networking sites like Gmail,Facebook,yahoo..

    if you opened they will send a warning message to you if you keep continued your performance will be degraded

    you systems for only office work not for the personal use
