What are the works that a veterinarian has to do?

I am going to apply for the medical course. I want to become a veterinarian and want to help my city. Many animals die here due to improper medical assistance and they also they are not given any vaccine against diseases. But I fear for performing surgery. Will I have to go through it before becoming a full certified Veterinarian? What are the works I have to do after I become a veterinarian Doctor.

    Hello Aspirant,

It is your very good aim to achieve.Being a qualified & helping society is very good aim.In order to be a veterinarian, you should compete first +2 course with Physics,Chemistry & Biology, then you will have to compete the entrance exam to be conducted by the state govts. or by the central govt.to take admission in 4 years B.V.Sc course.During this course, you will be taught in details about the Physiology of animals,Animal Nutrition,Animals diseases & its treatment,Surgical operation etc.

So if you are a veterinarian, you may require to treat the different kinds of animals & you may need to perform operation for the animals.Of course, you will get assistant from other staffs also.

So need not worry.Slowly you will be bold enough to perform surgical operation to the desired animals.Of course it seldom requires to perform operation for the animals.

    Thanks.

    Hello Friend,

Well, a veterinarian is a very interesting career prospect for a young dynamic people like you. In other words a veterinarian is a professional qualified to treat diseased or injured animals. Unlike men animals can't speak for themselves. Based on their health consitions you have to detect the cause of disease or pain as early as possible and treat those animals accordingly. As a starter you have to know the animals behaviours, methods of treatment and medicines to be used during treatment. After gaining required experienced you will be able to perform surgery. You don't have to be nurvous, you can learn the process gradually. But first you have to control your emotion and fear if you want to be a successful veterinarian . All the best.

    Dear user

If you like animals and science, you might want to be a veterinarian. Veterinarians take care of sick and injured animals. Like doctors, they perform surgery and give medicine to animals.

When an animal is sick, vets examine it to find out why. They look for clues in the way an animal looks, acts, and smells. For example, if a dog is walking in a strange way, that might be because it hurt its leg. Vets need to look carefully because animals can't say what is wrong.

Vets also give blood tests, x-rays, and other tests, looking for clues about an animal's illnesses. Then, vets decide what kind of medicine or treatment the animal needs.

Vets prevent problems by giving vaccinations and check-ups and fixing teeth. They also teach owners how to feed and train their animals.

Vets use special tools to perform surgeries. They fix broken bones, take out tumors, replace knees and hips, and more. Vets also treat and cover wounds. They need to be ready to see blood, organs, and bones.

Most vets treat small pets, including dogs, cats, and gerbils. But a few focus on large animals, such as sheep, cows, and horses. Large-animal vets usually drive to ranches and stables where their patients live. They check for infections in the animals and give advice to the animals' owners. Often, they help when the animals give birth.

Vets who work with large animals often work outside in all kinds of weather. This work can sometimes be dirty. Veterinarians often work long hours, with one-third of full-time workers spending 50 or more hours on the job.

    So chose wisely your occupation.

    Good luck
