What should be done when your boss overburdens you with extra work and you are unable to handle the same?

I am working in a MNC. From the past few days , my boss has been giving me a lot of extra work in addition to my own work. I am feeling very stressed out and am unable to manage the same. I am afraid that my boss will scold me for this. What should be done in such a situation?

    Dear Friend,

The situation you are facing is very common in most of the MNCs as well as in other companies. You should not feel stressed because of this and carefully think how well you can handle this.

Most of the times this happens because boss is not aware of all the works done by sub-ordinates at macro level. So, you should explain everything that you do elaborately to your boss. Also, if you are finishing some work in 2 hours then project it to your boss as the work cannot be completed in less than 4 hours. In short, always try to project your work as more than what you actually do. Show to your boss that you are busy and over burdened with work even if you are not.

This way as your boss will come to know that you already having so much of work, he will not give you any extra work.

Your boss, if he is normal, will never scold you because of this. So, don't worry about this at all.

If after using above mentioned trick also, your boss is giving you more work then clearly tell him that it is very difficult for you to finish all the tasks.

I am sure it will help you. Thank you.
    All the best!!!

Simply say to the boss that you cannot handle that much of work and also warn him that if there will be any mistake in the work then you are not responsible for the same, then your boss will definitely think about it and reduce it to somehow less. By saying that you are just giving your cap to other person as if you wear that cap without saying anything then it will automatically come to you and at the end of the day you will suffer alot. So always play safe because there are many ways boss can screw your *** so always be ready to handle those things. Your boss cannot say anything if you except that you cannot do that work because you are just reducing the problem by doing that, if you dont say anything then boss think that you can do that and he will become free of worries, never make your boss free of worries because once your boss become like that then the things will be out of control. So always play with your boss never take bamboos as they will hurt.

See by seeing the amount of work given to you, it seems that you have an image of responsible and an employee of worth in front of your

boss.So you don't need to be afraid of his scoldings as he needs you as you are making his work easy. See sometimes the boss is not aware

about the amount of work he has given you and thus not think about that how will you manage the work given to you. So at such times when

you feel that the amount of work is exceeding your limits than you should speak about it to your boss. As it becomes necessary that your

boss becomes aware that you are not able to handle due to overburden. You cannot take such burden and effect your health just due to the

fear of your boss. Even if you don't explain to him about your burden which will definitely effect your efficiency of working that will show in

your work than also your boss will scold you and at that time you will tell that you were overburden than he will scold you more and will tell

that you should have told him about it . So don't fear and be frank in these things, this will make your job easier
