What should be done when one of your best teachers want to leave the school as she feels that her pay is inadequate?

I am the Principal of a private school. Recently one of the best teachers of our school came to my office and told me that she is thinking of leaving this school as she thinks that her pay is not adequate. Now I have told her that we donít have adequate funds yet for an increase in pay. But she is not ready to listen. What to do now as I donít want to lose her?

The experienced teacher understands the children like no one else as they are skilled and well experienced who inspires and guides the children in every way.The dedicated teacher is not ordinary one but they can make the children extraordinary. They works with true spirit and struggle for the working school for better results and they are also solution to every problem in the class. so in my opinion please do not loose that type of good and experienced teacher. please try your best to convince her about her salary hike. Explain in detail about the school present financial background problems and give assurance if possible in written for the hike to be given as and when the financial situation comes up.Better if top management gives this promise to her so that she could understand and have confidence. please fulfill it as and when the financial situation of your school comes up without fail.

If you dont have that much fund to afford the best teacher of your school then you should not try to force her to stay over there as she may also having some problems in her home may be the salary is not that much sufficient that she can fulfil her needs . If you really likes to stop her then you need to increase the pay, if you cannot do at that moment then you need to ask her that if he increse the salary after 3 months and offer her the letter of increment after 3 months then she will stay over there due to that .But if she have any other problem then nobody can stop her as may be she is getting the best opportunity of her life, in terms of salary, in terms of comfortability and all.So you should respect the decision of that teacher as everybody has the right to get success if she is going for the success then you should never stop her and try to be in touch of her and whenever she face any kind of problem she will call you back and you can again give her the job.World is not going to end if she leavesas it will be the chance for the next employee in the line may be the next one will be the best of the best, so never be dishearted as this is a part of life.
