What is the relation between SSN and Provident fund?

I have a Provident fund already created for me from company but now I keep on hearing from my colleagues that we need to get the SSN number? What does it mean? Will it come along with the Provident fund account creation? Or we need create it separately? Can you please tell me what should I do now?

First of all SSN is a social security number. The P.F amount will be transferred to the account number easily .You need to fill the form for employee details .SSN for any withdrawal from provident fund .
