    What is notice period? Is it true that we can not go on leave in notice period?

    I am a fresher in an IT company joined 3 months back . I heard some of my colleagues using the word “Notice Period”. I was not comfortable asking them. Please explain what it is and why is that given? And they also said that they can’t go on leave while on notice period. Is that so?

    It’s the question every new joiner gets and they hesitate to ask publicly. Notice period is the amount of time an employee has to give from the time he/she decides to quit until he/she actually stops working. Most of the companies would be asking for a notice period of 3 months or less than that. This is the time the company takes to relieve you from the current responsibilities and settle your finance related matters. The leaves taken under the notice period would be considered as “Loss of pay”.
    Sometimes when you clear the interview of some other employer and want to quit the job from current employer, then the new employer would ask you how much notice you need in order to join the new job.

    Notice period is the thing that wen u gv resignation from ur job u have to sreve notice period from 3 months or less than that. In some sum company itwill be a 15 days.and yes u cnt take leave on that perticulaer period. That was called loss of pay. If u go without notice period that was called absconding,bt their is loss to go abscondig coz if u serve notice period u legaly leave the job :u get all ur documents like resignation letter and experience letter. Its imp coz ur next company asking for experience letter.

    being the freshener its not a good sign to take a leave in notice period... so never do that. if at all the reason of taking leave is so important then go for it. but not for silly reason like functions, parties etc....taking leave in notice period loss of pay...so dont go for it.....

In this context, since it is on your job application, the company is asking how much notice you need to give your current employer before you actually stop your current job. In other words, they want to know when you'd be free to start. It sounds like you are not currently working, so the answer would be "I am available immediately."

    notice period is that you want to leave job. according to some companies the duration of notice period is about 2 to 3 months . during this period you can not leave, if necessary you can take leave without pay. but as a fresher my suggestion is not to go on leave. you can take experience certificate and all the necessary certificate during this period.

    What is notice Period:

    Notice period is the amount of time . The employ has to work in the company until he actually stops working .

    Here you can set notice period . the company will ask you how much notice you need to give your current employer before you actually stop your current job.

    So you can not leave the job until completion of notice period compulsory you have to work.

    If your organization give permission then you can leave the job otherwise you cannot leave the job in notice period.

    • It is the Time Period Requested By The Employee To Leave the Organization,
    • It is the Formal & Professional way of Intimation of Leaving Organization after the Notice Period,
    • You Should Work to the Organization in All Working Days during Notice Period,
    • You are not Allowed To Take any Leave & Absence during notice Period,
    • If you Fails To Do then you should face the Necessary Actions By Organization.

    Notice period is the agreed upon time you will serve the organisation by you in the agreement signed when you joined the company. It is different for all the companies from 1 month to 3 months. If you do not serve the notice period, you are asked to pay the salary for the specified months to the company.

    Its generally not advisable to take leaves as the company(depends on the company) may ask you to work for those number of days. But you can if you have a good leave balance.

    When you resign from your job then you need to tell the HR before one moth in advance.
    They will settle all the accounts and they will search for a new person to occupy your position.
    Taking leave on the notice period changes from company to company.
    Read your companies policies for further details.

    You want to quit the job and you ask for it..
    The company gives a notice period to you e.g 15 days..
    During the time you must not take leave...
    If you dont go to the office during notice period you dont get your documents properly......

    Hi,

    Notice period is the period which you have to inform the company HR before you leave the company.For example if you want resign but your employer had condition of 30 days notice period,Then you have to inform to HR before 30 days of your resignation.

    Why most companies had this type of rule? Means all of a sudden one resource leaves the company then it is difficult for them to get replacement of that person.For that they keep reasonable period generally 30 to 45 days.

    Coming to leaves during notice period, it is in the hands of your management.

    The only way to take leave during this period is with valid doctor certificate.You may apply for sick leave.No way employer deny your leave. But employer may extend your notice period by number of days you are in leave in that period.

    the employer the time to replace the employee with a suitable candidate.

    If you have any genuine reason such as you are sick ,you can take 1-2 days leave.

    when a employer wants to leave a company then he/she should face a notice period
    This period will last for 3 months or below as per the company norms

    Hi Friend,


    Notice period is the period you have to inform to the organisation before your going out of the comapny.The time will vary for comapnies.Most companies have 3 months of notice period,some will have 15 days only.For companies it is necessary to get replacement of resource before there will move out from the comapny that why comapnies will maintain notice period.


    Regarding leaves,yes without proper reason you can't take leaves while you are in notice period.It's all depend on management.you can take leave if there is a valid reason.


    As a fresher everyone will feel like you to ask anything to seniors.But that is not the good thing my gear friend.you have to ask them.As a fresher only you have a chance to ask anything.So ask your doubts,try to interact with them.so that you can learn how to handle work,more knowledge you can get from them.

    notice period is nothing buy it is the time that you are required to give the company before quiting ...
    and ya one more thing you can't leave the job untill your notice is completed...
    and ya it is true you can't go anywhere during notice period...

    Dear Friend,

    Notice period is the period of time to be given to the organisation for leaving the job.

    It may be 3 months or less.Suppose you want to resign from your present job from 1/11/2012,then you should give in writing to the manager HR 3 months ago.

    This period is used to settle your all sorts of accounts related to your working organisation.

    Also the organisation gets time for planning to get new candidate.

    Leave taken during the notice period is treated as loss of pay.

    You must be very cordial with your colleagues,senior concerned in order to get cleared with such matters.

    Hi,

    Notice period is the time an employer and/or employee needs to give the other if they decide to separate before normal retirement age.

    If a person does not serve the notice period given in his terms and conditions of Employment then he need to pay for the short period. For example: If the notice period is 3 months and a persons wants to leave after 2 months then he needs to pay back the Company the amount equaling to his 2 months salary.

    The Industrial disputes Act, 1947 in India first introduced the concept of Notice Period or Payment in lieu of Notice Period to protect the workers.

    This system has a very good base since it protects the employee from immediate loss of pay due to loss of job and also protects the Employer by giving it time to find proper replacement and enabling induction and handing over of charge.

    This Notice Period in general is not specific to a particular department like HR or Marketing but is applicable for all employees on Regular rolls.

    So, you can not leave the job until completion of notice period compulsory you have to work.If your organization give permission then you can leave the job otherwise you can not leave the job in notice period.

    Dear friend,

    In simple words, Notice period is that assigned time period from employer which an employee have to serve after giving resignation in the same company.

    For example, If you are working in any company named as 'X' and after completing one year in the same company you got an offer of job from a company named as 'Y', then for joining Y, you have to give resignation in X , after giving resignation letter you have been asked to serve the notice period of one month (Already mentioned in your appointment/offer letter) , then you have to continue for one more month in the same company, after successful completion of notice period then only you will get all your experience certificate and relieving letter, and now you can join Y .

    During the notice period an employee cannot take leave, in case if its an emergency for example you want to take 2 days leave , then you have to serve one month and 2 days as a notice period.

    This time duration of notice period varies from company to company it all depend on the HR policies of that particular company.

    Hi,

    The term Notice Period comes in picture in the professional life whenever we talk about leaving the company. You can also refer your offer letter to see the notice period time of your company.

    As you are fresher and might be on the probationer period, then your notice period would be only 1 month. Once you will get confirmed after 1 year or 2 year as per company rules, might be your notice period will get increased and become 2 or 3 months.

    Yes, it is true that nobody can take a leave if that are serving the notice period. If in case in emergency they take a leave that will count as a “Leave without Pay”. Or in case you have a good relationship with your immediate manager, then sometime they will allow you to take leave.

    So all in all, if somebody has resigned from the company then he has to serve the notice period time, only after that he will get relieved for the company’s duty and get the experience letter.

    Notice period is the minimum time before which you need to tell the company that you are leaving the job

    You cant leave your job in an instant

    And ya you cant take cleave during this period.

    Hello

    Notice period is a very common terminology in any job ..It basically is the time period you have to spend as an employee of the company after your resignation letter is accepted till the time you leave your office..It is the interim in which your company recruits a new person in your place so that he can join instanly when you leave your post and thus the notice period is required to be served by every employee..Also your all settlements with the company will be done during this period..
    You are paid as before during this period and diffeent companies have different policies and time wrt to the notice period..And you cannot take any leave during this period..If you take leave you have to compensate for the same from your salary..Good luck

    Hello Friend,
    notice period is the time period you have to give company before you leave the company and it is decided by company.
    so after you apply for release you have to wait for that period of time before you actually leave the company.
    unless you do that it will be treated as resignation and you wont get the experience certificate and PF clearance and all other clearance...etc.company needs this 2-3 months notice period to recruit new person in your place and give him training.

    Notice period is the time that will be given by you or company for resigning or terminating.

    Even if the company want to terminate you or you want to terminate the job, you have to work for the agreed notice period.

    It will be varied from one company to other company like

    1 month
    2 months
    3 months etc.

    You can take leave in the notice period.

    But if you take leave that many days extra you have to work in the organization

    Notice means a letter that you submit to your manager regarding your resignation.

    By giving a notice, you are agreeing that you are resigning the job and want to serve the notice period.

    You can take leaves in the notice period.

    Some companies will deduct them from your available leaves.

    Some companies will extend your notice period by the number of days that you take leave.

    So, know the policy of your company and take leaves accordingly.

    From my side, notice period means,

    notice for resignation from your job in the organization.

    Yes. It is true that you will not be given leaves in the notice period.

    This is as per policies of some companies.

    As per the policies of some other companies,

    you can avail leaves in the notice period.

    But that is with LOP (Loss of Payment).

    Some other companies will extend your notice period if you take leave in the notice period.

    Some other companies will completely ignore this.

    So, this is different from company to company.
