What is the meaning of Earned Leave? Way to use such leave?

I am working in a MNC company. In my joining letter it is written that I have 15 days of earned leave and it gets expire every year if I donít apply for that. What do we mean by that? I donít want to waste my leave. Can anybody tell me is there any other way I can use this leave?

Earned leave means that for every 1 month that you work company is giving you 1.25 leaves.
When you take this leave you salary for that day is not deducted

Many companies wants that all EL should be taken by employees within the same year
You should apply for EL after 3-4 months and once it gets approved by your boss you can take this lreave

you should avail all the 15 leaves within one year

    Hi,

Earned leave is that is granted to the employee in a year

Employee can use this leave . If not it is expired at the end of the year

Unlke govt sectors , you cant save this leave to make it as money

These leaves cant be carried forward for next year also

Apart from this sick leaves are also there .

Earned leaves are the leaves that are gained for the year

It is added up in the annual leaves

    Annual leaves needs manager permission

    Sick leaves are auto approved

    Thanks @@@@+

    Hi,

Earned leaves are those that you earn while you are serving the company. You will get these leaves in your account either on quarterly basis or monthly basis.

As you mentioned that you are entitled to get 15 days leave as EL in a year then if we will divide it by 12, it means you will get your account will be credited by either 1.25 leaves each month or get 3.75 leaves per quarter. If there is no policy of carry forwarding the leaves for the next month, then either you can avail your 15 leaves in an entire year or they will get lapse at the end of the year.

By the way, I have never heard that EL are not get carry forward. In each company EL are only those leaves which you can carry forward for the next year.
In my company also we got 22 leaves as EL, and have a compulsion to take 15 days because we can carry forward only 7 leaves in a year.

I just want to advice you that you please discuss again with your company HR about your leave policy.

    Hello friend,
earned leaves are those in which you get paid though you are in leave and there is no such specific rule for applying earned leave.these leaves get credited on your account as the month passes and you can apply leave by writing a mail to the PM or any body of that department.and those many days will be deducted from the credited days.
and you will get paid if your leave duration is limited within those 15 days else that will be loss of pay.apart from that company provides many leaves which are also paid leaves like
    sick leave
    bereavement leave
    ...etc
    Thank You.

    hello friends..

1)Earned leave is leave which has been earned(in accordance with conditions of employee) and not taken at the time of severance

2)you can apply for Earned leaves after 3 -4 months and get the permission for your boss to avail the leave
