On what grounds can an employee be sacked from job?

I am the boss of a software company. Recently it has come to my notice that few employees are showing reckless behaviour in the office premises with other employees. I have been suggested to sack those employees from their jobs by other employees. So I want to know what are the grounds on which I can sack employees from their jobs.

    Hi friend,
Few reasons for which you can sack employees are -

    1. Causing damage or loss to office property
    2. leaking out trade secrets of the company
    3. unreasonable and misbehaviour with co-workers
    4. flouting rules and regulations of the company
    5. theft or misapproriation of office money
    6. not meeting targets and deadlines
    7. laying off due to recession in the company itself
    8. disagreement with the boss on some issues.

If you encounter any of these , you can sack your employees but do give them an opportunity of being heard once. In the present situation, you must personally look into the matter and decide the course of action rather than goin by hearsay of other employees.
    Good luck.

Dear boss, you have been noticed that some employees are showing reckless behaviour with other employees for this reason you are thinking to sack them, and seeking grounds against reckless behaviour.

You are the boss first of all you call the few employees at your table and in a friendly manner ask them what are the reasons for their reckless behaviour with other employees within the office premises and office hours.

If thier reasons' are not right to comply with then ask them from refraining such odd things, if they do not hear your talks then issue memo.If they do not submit their views/opinion/reasons then you can proceed to take further stringent actions against them as per software company to keep fit the environment of the company such action will be helpful to build the peaceful, progressive status of the company.

    Thank You,

    Hello,

Any company recruits staffs solely on the basis of its need to perform some function so that the company runs smoothly. But if it is found that some to the recruited staffs performance level is not upto the mark, that is company is not getting any productive help for which they have been recruited, such employees are fired from the office/company.Another reason can be during recession,or a period of time when company faces loss,in order to control cost, company sacks a number of employees and distributes those duties/responsibilities within the remaining working employees.Basically company sacks those employees which they find to be useless or unproductive.

    Dear Aspirant,
The employee should work according to service codes. It means the employees should be kind & polite in behaviour, should be honest, efficient, punctual etc. They should follow the principles of hierarchy. They should not behave rudely with others. If you get a report against any employee in written, ask a urgent explanation from the concerned employees.Depending upon the reply, you can set up either a enquiry or take a direct action. But the employee should not be dismissed at the early action. They may be transferred or they may be withheld one increment.Despite of this type of action,if they don't improve their behaviour, they may be dismissed after full & real enquiry of the matter.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Ashok..

    Hi friend

I think you certainly have the right to sack those employees who are showing reckless behaviour with other employees in the office premises. You can sack those employees for various reasons. The other employees who are telling you to sack those employees are certainly right and i think you should do the same. But first of all I think you should give them another chance as everybody deserves another chance. You should call them together to your office and warn them that you have received many complaints against them regarding their reckless behaviour with others. They should see to it that they don't repeat it again otherwise they are sure to lose their job.

I am sure they will start behaving properly due to the fear of losing their job. But if they don't then you can sack them on the basis of breaking the rules and regulations of the company, distrbing the decorum of the office and misbehaving with other employees. Then they will surely learn a good lesson.

    Good luck and Thanks

Re: On what grounds can an employee be sacked from job?

    Hey!
It is very sad to know that such reckless behaviour is being shown by the employees. Such an irresponsible conduct by the employees definitely needs to be acted upon. There is a certain code of conduct that needs to be maintained in the office premises and the employees who fail to do that should definitely bear its repercussions. Code of conduct are formal guidelines that are framed by the office that need to be followed by all the employees.

Reckless behaviour by the employees also tends to spoil the work culture at the premises. This is harmful for the organization because it spoils the temperament of the employees and they do not work to the best of their capabilities. This leads to inability of the employees to meet their targets. This in turn leads to a drop in the efficiency of the team as a whole.

The grounds on which the employees can be sacked can be one of the following:
    1. Not abiding by the rules of the code of conduct that are framed by the organization.
    2. Going against the work ethics of the company like lack of cooperation amongst the members, creating an environment where the other employees' performance is hindered.
    3. Not able to meet the targets that have been allocated to him/her in succession for a number of months.
    4. Commiting a grave mistake that can have serious consequences on the reputation of the company.
    5. Divulging such information that is private and confidential for the organziation to others.
    6. During a state of recession in the company the employees can be sacked.

In all the above cases it is important to give a notice period to the employees after which the services of the employee can be terminated. Employees who do not have a positive effect on the organization should be sacked from their job after giving them a prior warning. I hope that you are able to take the best decision. All the best!
