What does it mean by Overqualified for the job post? Why they have to reject me saying that as the reason?

I didnít get job for quite long so I thought I ll join in a call centre meanwhile as part time job but when I went for the interview they just said you are Overqualified for the job and rejected me. Why they have to do that? Will I not get the job again I attend the interview once more?

They rejected you because you were overqualified and in future you could leave the job any time you feel you are not fit for this job or you get any better offer.Companies need employees who could sustain in the company and can work for maximum time as a company goes through a lot of pain in training employees.
But if you need the call centre job just tell them the qualifications they are looking for.Hide your degrees, it will work for you.

    hello friend,

Overqualified is the easiest answer to give a candidate when an employer passes on hiring.

It means you were good in interview but they were not upto the mark at your level

It is the safest way to get the candidate to go away.

they just want to move on to the next candidate because may be they are not interested in you

Somehow if you have give a good interview then also they say you are overqualified because they just want you to send back and it is the easiest word to say you are disqualified

May be you might had ask high salary but They really want someone younger, cheaper whom they pay less

    Thank you!

    Hi ,

Overqualified actaully means that the skill set you possess is more than they require it for a particular post.

They reject you mainly because you might feel inferior to do that job.

It might be a simple phone operator job or something like that.

Or they might think that they have to pay you more for same post with a person of overqualified resume for it.

    Not every company do this.

Sometimes when you express your willingness to work in that position they will offer you.

Its always better to look a job that matches your skill set.

    Thanks !!!

    Hello

If you are a graduate and you went and said the same thing over a call center then obviously you are over qualified. They wont accept a graduate because they know at any point of time if you get any other job ofer you will straight away leave this job and join that. So they wont be having any profit from selecting you.

This is exactly what happened when my friend went to the call center and they rejected him . They went to another call center saying that they are 12th pass students and they accepted them. Because they know that they wont have any other work as they are just 12th pass students.

A call center is a basically a part time job for many people. So next time you join in any other jobs like call center they dont mention that you are a graduate.

    Thanks

    dear,
overqualified means that you are more educated and experienced for this job...
they will be thinking that you can leave this job for a better job easily...
or you will be expect more salary...
so they don't want this type of problems...
that is why they rejected you nothing else...
so better to try a job according to your level it will be good for you dear...

    hello friend...
see overqualified means that you have a more experience and more knowledge according to your job...
so company don't recruit anyone who has more knowledge on job so they can reject you....
because they think that you can leave your job as soon if you will get a offer of good job... so it will be problem for them... so dear you apply your knowledge and talent which you suits you...
    thanks...

Re: What does it mean by Overqualified for the job post? Why they have to reject me saying that as the reason?

    hi friend,

its most common if you are a graduate and if you go to any of the call center for getting a job in that for part time.

most of the call centers donot appoint the students with high qualification or overqualified because, there are some reasons for it
    :-

    1. you may leave the job when you get a better opportunity, which is not desirable to them.

    2. they do not require persons who are over qualified.

    3. the requirement for them is just the persons with 10+2 or 10 itself.

    4. the salary they offer is low which you may not adjust too and may definitely think of leaving the job within 2 months.

    5. while the persons with 10+2 have got no other option to do that job because they are not much qualified.

    6. work burden. you need to work in night shifts and morning shifts and have got less breaks and all this you need to do for a salary of some 6,000 to 8,000.

    7. they also put a condition of bond for 1-2 years which you would definitely dont accept.

these are the reasons why the call centers do not offer the jobs for the persons who are over qualified.

But there are some big companies that offer the jobs in their call centers, you need to try them.

    all the best.

    thanking you.

Hi guest, Overqualified means you have more qualifications than the required for a job in the call centre. In underqualified you doesn't possess required qualification and in overqualified you possess more than required. IN Simple words , it's the best way to say NO to the candidate , without hurting him. There will be no use, if you attend the interview again, it will be better for you to go for a job in other call centre and hope they give you part time job. Thanx

There are various private public companies they pay good salary for the post of subodinate staff.for their recruitment often they give adv.to fill up the post .then observing salary educated degree holder can apply and often surely do that.but as per advertisement they need only 8th standard in such cases authrity declares as you are over qualified for the post we need as per advertisement.under such situation candidate should see adv.attentively and do apply accordingly.

    HI,

You might be much more qualified for that post.

In future, if you get better job offers you might leave the company.

That's why small companies can not take risk by taking such talented people in their company.

They want average standard employee who will atleast be in the company for 2-3 yrs minimum.

Work hard. Upgrade your technical skills. You are a talented person, you will get a good job soon.

    HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL!!!!!
    GOOD LUCK!!

They rejected you as a result of you were overqualified and in future you'll leave the duty any time you are feeling you're not appropriate this job otherwise you get any higher supply.Companies would like staff UN agency might sustain within the company and may work for max time as a corporation goes through lots of pain in coaching staff.
however if you would like the decision centre job simply tell them the qualifications they're craving for.Hide your degrees, it'll work for you.

could also be you may had raise high wage however They actually need somebody younger, cheaper whom they pay less.

Hi. You should not lose hope and try to find a job of your calibre rather than going for call centre jobs.

The call centre officials rejected you because you are highly qualified and they dont need such highly qualified or over qualifued people. Because most of such highly qualified people tend to leave the job as soon as they find a good suitable higher paid job for themselves thus wasting the time and resources of the call centre people in recruitment.

Also there is no bond in most of the call centres so that they can easily leave the job at anytime.

Have confidence in you. You will surely succeed . Best of luck. Thanks

Dear, asker, let me tell you one thing that you are enough educated for that jobs, don't think negatively that you have been rejected for your overqualification, this is because you are more educated and at any time you can leave that job any this is the fear which they have in their mind that why they have rejected you. Dear asker keep up working in call center until you get the jobs which will match you job profile. Good luck

    Hello Friend,
Overqualified means your qualification is way more than there criteria ,so you are more volatile to that job.in future if you try the you will definitely get a way better job than the call center job.
and in that case you will leave that job ,so they dont want to take people who will leave job early and in the moral ground also they are not taking you because by that they may hamper your career where as if you try you will get good jobs.
thirdly the payscale you expect with your qualification and what they actually provide there is a much bigger gap in between and they cant pay you that much so they want less educated persons whom they can make to work on lesser salary.
so directly not rejecting you they are saying you are overqualified for the job ,its better for your career ,dont get depressed work hard you will definitely get a good job.
    Thank You.
