    What to do with one of my team members who keeps asking me foolish questions all the time?

    I am working in a software company. I am the team leader of one of the projects. One of my team members has a very low IQ and always keeps on asking foolish questions. I am really fed up of him and want to do something regarding this. How should I react in such a situation?

    Hello Friend,

    Well, as a Team Leader it is your duty to explain to him the different aspects of a projects. Leadership requires trust and patience. You should not loose your cool at any cost. There can be many people in a group with different IQ and that does not give you the right to select people based on IQ. You should also consider his other qualitues as well rather than stick to one point.


    If he asks anything stupid then it is much better to remain silent in such situation. Patience is a very rare qualities these days my friend.

    Hello,

    As a team leader it is your responsibility to guide to every team member through their work. You cannot get fed up with any team member. You must act relaxed and answer every question asked by your members.

    If your member has low IQ and unable to understand some things, then you must explain him those things. Also guide him through his work. Tell him to work regularly on his work of area to gain skills and learn new things. Ask him to take lessons on his subject and try to improve and widen his knowledge in the software subject.

    Tell him to learn then he will improve. You must teach him and he will surely become a better member in some time. He must be unable to grasp things so tell him to remember what you say and think about it. If he has problem remembering it then tell him write it down. This will surely help.

    Ok friend you are team leader. so i think to reach this position you meet many guys like him.now you know how to avoid him.but i think you first you have to directly talk with him that i don't like this.If he didn't stop you avoid him and if possible talk wid ur senior to change ur that group. or you can live with him with ignore him...

    Hi,

    To be honest,you do come across such people during your professional career.

    See,according to me you should talk to him personally and explain him that he's actually disturbing the whole team asking these foolish questions.
    Some people do have this tendency to crack jokes or ask something silly in order to attract the attention of other members.
    But they do not realize that they are actually affecting the concentration and progress of the discussion.
    So you should definitely talk to him about this and if wanted,you can even warn him that if he repeats such an act in the future,then he can also be fired from the job!

    I am sure that he'll understand your points and will not do the same thing in the future!

    Hi,
    As you mention that one of your team member asking you foolish question and you are team leader, so in this situation you just need to cooperate with him. If he is asking question related to your project then you should be responsible to provide answer, because sometimes employee not understand the project. So they ask silly questions.
    But if he ask irrelevant/foolish question in other field and waste your time, then you should report your senior and give them his negative feedback. So that management will decide that employee is suitable or not for his/her company.

    You should not listen to those guys who always ask you the foolish questions as its their habit to ask you the same so you need to ignore those guys .
    Like if anybody ask you the question then your duty is not to reply because if you reply whether in positive ornegative manner then that will become an conversation and after that it will become a discussion and finally a wastage of time so you should not reply for those question.as that will be the time wasting situation.
    What you need to do is just concentrate on your task and complete that because these guys will always ask the foolosh questions, if you give them importance then you will never succeed.
    Some ofthe employees are so smart that they complete their work on time and after that if they get the free time then they have a responsibility to make other employees suffer from crisis of time so they ask the foolish question to the other employees to waste theri time so that they can get the award of getting the work done first.
    So beware of these people.

    • Being a team leader, it's very important to you need to remove everyone's doubt.
    • You must not be angry on him and handle the situation patiently.
    • Being a team leader, you need to use the strongest points of team member and try to overcome the weakest point.
    • So if the team member ask you the relevant question then you are bound to answer them and if it's just a silly question then you can ignore it instead of answering it.
    • You must also ask that team member to concentrate on work instead of asking silly question.
