    What is the difference between job interview and appraisal interview?

    I want to know what are the major differences between the job interview and appraisal interview? Is it just the same where the ask for the questions or it is completely different? Can you please provide me the details with your experience, so that I can get the completely idea about it. Thanks a lot.

    Even though both job interview and appraisal interview seems same but there are some difference between the same. Let us first analysis what is Appraisal Interview.

    In the simple sense the appraisal interview is the interview where the employer interact with the employee with relate to the performance of the employees. This interview helps the employer to know about the personal development requirement and to whom the promotion has to be given so as to give him the further training on the subject. It involve the face 2 face nitration between the employer and the employee and discuss about the employees performance and to evaluate about the same. It give an employee to get a chance to explain what he is and get a chance to say that his manager evaluation is wrong and get a chance to explain what he has done to the company and can also gives an idea about the employees performance. It is some sought of getting the feedback from the employee to the company which also helps the company to get a chance to improve.

    The main point of focus will be on the individual and the interview has to be conducted between one of the senior manager and an individual employer. It is the review of the individual and it should also be useful for the manger also which helps him to also evaluate his performance. Earlier the focus was only on the form filling and now most of the company things that the effective way for appraisal interview is only by interacting personally. Usually most of the interaction will be with regard to the past performance of the employees.

    Mostly the senior manager in the appraisal interview will be asking the following questions

    1. What the employee has done well?
    2. What are the challenges which the employee had to face in his job?
    3. What the employee would have done in particular situations differently?
    4. What are the new challenges which the employer and employee are going to face?
    5. How the employer and the employee improve in future?

    Now let us come to Job interview. In simple cense job interview is a selection process by which a prospective employee is selected to a new job. It helps the employer to get to know the capabilities of the prospective employee. It helps to evaluation the knowledge and experience of the candidates and to know whether the person concerned is fit for the job. Since the purpose of the job interview are known to the each and every one and there are so many post relating to it, so I think that there is no need of explaining about the same elaborately.

    Dear Aspirant,

    The both are completely different.The job interview is conducted by the employer in order to select suitable candidates for right posts.In the job interview,the candidates first apply according to the criteria prescribed in the notification published on behalf of the employer.If a candidate is selected in the job interview,the candidate is given the offer letter & then the appointment letter.Consequently,the selected candidates join the job.

    Here after the appraisal interview is started.In the appraisal interview,the manager under whom the employee is working starts watching the activity of the employee with regard to the interest in work,behaviour etc.Appraisal interview is conducted in order to understand the individual's learning needs.It is generally conducted twice in a year.Some managers conducts this interview once in a year.

    The employee is considered for promotion on the basis of the performance found in the appraisal interview.

    Dear Friend These Job Interview and the Appraisal Interview are both different things .. Job Interview is for the joining the job in a company whereas the appraisal interview is for the employee working in the company and if he is eligible for the promotion and also he wants the promotion then he has to appear for the Appraisal interview.. There he is judged on the various aspects and if found good then he is given the promotion and also the salary increment.. Also the opportunity is given to the good performer.. ALL THE BEST
