What is the criteria of basic pay structure in private sector?

I am working in a private company. I want to know that is the basic salary is 70% of gross salary. My company is provided 50% of gross salary right now. Is it differing from company to company? Is it affected by government rules?

    Dear Aspirant,

Most of the standard private companies the govt.policy of pay structure to their employees. There are presently four pay band & many grade pay.

Besides following the pay structure of govt.,the private companies are giving many allowances as the mobile expenses, vehicle allowances etc.

In govt.,presently there are 72% of dearness allowances payable on the amount of basic pay & grade pay.suppose one employee is having basic Rs10,000 & grade pay is 4200 then he will get Rs 9380 as dearness allowances per month.

Also the company is free to have its own pay structure to its employees.

    Thanks.
