What can I do if I was denied for the job promotion because of discrimination?

I am really feeling bad now because itís been 5 years since I am working in the same company faithfully with giving more time for whatever work which I get and now I am eligible for the job promotion but it is given for the person who is less experienced than me. What should I do now? How to defend my position? Please give me your suggestions regarding my issue.

    Dear Aspirant,

It is very bad to see your position.See your past performance in your job.Is there any bad remarks in your C.R.?

You may contact the manager HR & give him a representation in writing through proper channel.
stating the fact regarding your interest, devotion & work experience in the company.

Also mention about the promotion to your junior has been given.

If you are not satisfied with the response, you must meet & give representation to the head of the company stating the matter in details.

Hope you too will get your promotion.

    Thaks & good luck.

    Ashok

Hi friend. You should not feel discouraged and disheartened due to such discrimination but try to fight against the same . If you have been working hard enough to get a promotion for the last 5 years and now when the promotion time comes, another person who is less experienced than you gets it instead of you, then its not fair and certainly this is due to prejudice and discrimination. You should not be a victim of such prejudice and tell your manager what you feel. You deserve much better than this and dont be afraid that if you go and talk to your manager you may get in his bad books or something. Anyways if you are not getting your due and not showing any professional growth here its better to leave your job and find another one where they give you your due.

So firstly you go to your manager and tell him how you have been giving your all to the company for the past 5 years and when the time of promotion comes someone else with much less experience gets it over you. You want a proper explanation for this prejudice and you think that this is not fair and you certainly deserve a promotion now because of your hard work and achievements.

I am sure your manager will give you some explanation and may accept his mistake and give you your due. If he does not it will be better for you to resign and find another suitable job in a company where there are better growth opportunities..

    Good luck
