I am working in a software company. I am a fresher and have just joined this company. I want to take a half day leave for some urgent work. As this is my first time, I am very nervous and don’t know what to say to my boss. Please give me some good suggestions in this matter.

As per the rule,you are eligible to take half day leave,casual leave,for which you require to write a leave application addressed to your reporting boss.So write this application & then go to your boss.You need not fear of your boss & must be confident,because your boss is also like you,but senior in job.You require leave for which you have to request your boss & your boss has got power to sanction that leave.So you must explain your purposes orally to your boss to sanction the desired leave & then submit your leave application to your boss.After his consent,leave the place after saying thanks to your boss.It is not a big job but very simple.

Well this is your first time and you being a fresher so its quite obvious that you might feel nervous asking for the half day.
But do one thing on that very day when you want the half day , start to cover up the work of that day from a few days before itself and on that day try your best to complete your all work by 11am and once you are done ten have confidence and in a very humble manner with a nice smile and patience and ask him for the leave by mentioning that you have already sum up all your work with finishing.
And since its urgent thats why you are desiring for the leave but assure him that in future this wont be asked for all the time untill and unless its very urgent with due reason.

Heartly congratulations for getting a good job.You need not fear & not required to be nervous while dealing with your colleagues & boss.You must have full confidence in your self so that you face all sorts of challenges in professional & real life.You may have to see & face many situations for which you are required to be bold,courageous .If you have full knowledge based on information & fact,you will have confidence in yourself.
You are fully entitle to utilize half day casual leave,for which you are required to write an application & submit to your boss.So before going to your boss,you should write the leave application stating the fact cause of leave.Explain the matter orally & after consent of your boss,submit your leave application to him.You should say thanks before leaving the room.

Go to the cabin of the boss and tell him a sad story of your any of the relative whom you want to make the sourse of leave from the company.
Then ask the boss to make you free for couple of hours as it is a serious matter then he will think for a while and believe on your situation and provide the half day leave after that only because its a sensitive matter for him, and also he cannot say no to you because he dont know the matter very well.
But you need to make sure that these kind of tricks are only taken when you need a urgent peice of work, but you should never mention the piece of work because for that you will never get the leave and they will think that your work is not important for the company and your personal matters are important so never give the resons like doing urgent work or any other reason like this because that will never be accepted.
So you must have to deal in a smart way for the same.
Well if you are a satyawadi raja harishchandra then you need to say the truth may be your boss will provide you the leave or may be not.
But after that you can exlain them its really a very huge matter for you to take the leave.
