What to answer if the interviewer asks the question “ What is your greatest strength?” How should I be ready to answer this type of question? What all should I add and what I shouldn’t?

I am really confused what to answer and what not when the panel members ask the question “What is your greatest strength?” How should I handle this type of question? When they ask I end up messing up the question which I know only after answering it. Can you please help me how to answer this type of question to look like professional one? so that I can use it from next time?

Yes, its obvious that many end up messing up answering the question “What is your greatest strength?” as it truly needed some work to answer the panel member, so it’s really good that you want to google it out and prepare for those type of questions. Now the first and foremost thing which you want to do is to think about the question which means “Why the interviewer need to ask question which will be something like this?” What is the reason behind it? The answer is the interviewer will try to put these type of questions in front of you to get to know whether you are fit for the job or not.
Now say you are going for a company which deals with finance and now the interviewer asks you this question What is your greatest strength? and if you are going to say that your skills include “developing of numerous complex model and thrive towards the challenges which comes towards it” then automatically you have earned some extra points towards getting the job which is ultimately going to make you move forward for the job but now the important part which you have to keep in mind if you are going to answer something which is not related to the needs of the company then your candidacy could be in jeopardy.
So bottom line for this question don’t ever add some skills or strengths which is not related to the job profile which you are looking for just try to add the ones which are related to it which means there is some amount of home work is needed when you enter into the interview. For sure you will be knowing a day or two before attending the interview so sit for sometime think about the job profile which you have applied for and try to find out the skills which you have that matched with your profile and then present it in front of the interviewer but make sure you won’t add more stories or things which you don’t have cause once you do you will be expected to do that in job

tell them the strength that they want to buy.for this you will need to properly understand the job profile and keep your answer ready.you should tell atleast three strength to the interviewer like if you are required to change your sector or industry you can offer "your adaptability"as an answer.you can give answer like you are honest, hard working, always having positive attitude.so give your answer that are work related and tell the interviewer the story about when that strength helped you accomplished the task at work.

    Hi,
To answer this question you should examine yourself.Every one have their own strength and weakness but some people aware of that ,some people don't.So aware of your strength before attending any interview. At the time of interview when the panel asked about your strength, say your achievements that comes as the result of your strength and reveal your strength. In this how you present is important.Don't tell your weakness if you have unless you were asked.

    Thank You.

It is true that many people get confused while answering this question. But it can be rectified easily once you know about yourself. Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses. Analyze yourself. Your decision making skill at crucial time, your positive energy among the group, good health which helps you to keep your mind relaxed, commitment towards the assigned work and much more. Sometimes your friends might appraised you for your strength. Try to remember it. Make your ans brief. And about what not to tell, in my opinion, punctuality(because as a professional you should be punctual). All the best

For this question you need to say truth what is your greatest strength.

Generally the companies will ask these type of questions to know whether you are right person or not for that job. That's why they will check your strengths and weakness.

At this time you need to describe your skills and experience that are related to job.

Do not say unrelated thinks because they will check indirectly whether it is right or wrong.

Most of the candidates says like that:

    1. Looking Ahead

    2. I Trust God

    3. Confidence

    4. Hard working

    5. Positive thinking

    6. patience

Like this many are there but you have to say which is your really good strength in you.

    Thank you

This kind of question is bit confusing what to answer and what not. Actually this question is asked by the interview in order to evaluate how and which strength will be helpful for the growth and progress of the company. So your answer for this question must be related to your job, you must evaluate yourself and find the strengths you have. Hardworking, honest, punctual are some strength you may add in your answer. Apart from this you must add special quality of yours which is different from others. It will really help you. Thanx

    Hey

The only thing that i can suggest is be honest. Dont boast about the strengths that are just copied.

They will catch you instantly and you will loose impression. Say you are good at mixing with people and bonding with them be honest and tell them that.

They will just see how honest you are and how confident you are at what you are saying.

If you have any negative strength but you use it as your positive strength mention that as well it will increase your chances of getting into the company

    Finally be calm while answering

    Thank you

    Hi,

Yes, this is the very basic question which so many interviewer asked while interviewing.
For these kind of questions, you can take the help of google also and can prepare a rough note of some points and then can prepare the meaningful and impressive answer.
The basic motto of the interviewer behind this question is just to get to know that truly you are fit for the job or not. So whenever you go for an interview you have to act like very smart. You have to give the smart answer in reference of their requirement (job profile) only.

It is obvious that before going to give an interview you will be knowing about the job profile, so you have enough time to prepare the answer for this question in favour of interviewer, but keep in mind that answer should be look like genuine answer, don’t add more things which will create a problem for you.

    Hi friend,
Hope you are in good health and good state of mind!

Interview is an important aspect in getting selected for the job.
Make sure that you face the interview with full confidence.

Always tell as much as possible about your strengths.
Make sure that you highlight your achievements.

Tell that your "Greatest Strength" is that you are always to take up challenges and come out as a winner.
You are always willing to work with new members and contribute to the success of the organisation!

Always make sure that you maintain the eye contact with the interviewer as this shows the confidence of the candidate.

As far as weakness is concerned, you must quote your weakness in such a way that it turns out to be a good quality.
Let me explain you with an example.
You might say that you weakness is that you sometimes push yourself and others to the limit in order to complete the work.

So this is in a way your positive strength that you want the task completed no matter how much is required.

    Hello Friend,
Strength and weakness is the question asked to know how much you know your self you can say anything which you are strong about but you should give examples to prove
like in strengths you can say you are good in handling teams ,leadership, punctual ,sincer ..etc but you need to give examples how and when you handled team ,how you deal in difficult situation and how you motivated your team...etc

However weakness is the thing they want to know whether you have any or will that impact in negative impact on the company so be careful answering this dont say any negative weakness rather say like i have this weakness and i have did this to overcome it.
like i like to take chalenges a lot and do whatever required to fulfill the task but by which i have toil alot so i am now careful before accepting such hasty challenges .
so this will be treated as your strength or cleverness which will impress the interviewer.

    Thank You.

    hi friend,

it is very common question in the inteview-tell me about your strengths.

the strengths you say should be helpful to you.

don't say my parents or others as your strength because they don't think its correct.

also think that they are asking the strengths of you and they don't ask by whom you are successful.

    both are different.

you can say any of the following strengths by giving examples in your life.

    punctuality

    confidence

    courage

    adaptability

    ability to learn fast

    all the best
    regards srilekha

    Hey!
Such questions are a favourite among the interviewer panel. They try to figure out whether your capabilities match that of the person who would fit in the required job profile. This question needs a lot of homework. At the same time these answers should be well practised before going for the interview. Practising them in front of the mirror can be helpful to you and make you feel more confident in front of the interviewer. The following points can be helpful:
    1. Always begin your answer with the phrase, "As a person I am". This gives an impresion of modesty.
    2. Read the job profile that the company has mentioned and frame your answer accordingly. The company will judge you on this basis and decide whether you are appropriate for the job.
    3. Choose your words in such a way that they have an impact on the mind of the interviewer and while recollecting about your interview later he can immediately recollect your uniqueness.
    4. Its always good to cite an example to prove your strength so that the statements that you mention are not just words anymore but they come to life!
    5. Make sure that your resume also contains some points which are in sync with your strengths. This will enable you to justify your strength.
    6. The most important thing is that you should maintain your confidence level while talking about your strengths because a lot can be judged from your facial expressions.

I am sure that these points will benefit you and you will secure a job very soon.. All the best. Thank you.

Re: What to answer if the interviewer asks the question “ What is your greatest strength?” How should I be ready to answer this type of question? What all should I add and what I shouldn’t?

This is one of the very common question asked in the interview.Although the question appears to be simple yet the answer to it will reflect many aspect and traits of the candidates. It also reflects how much prepared the candidate is or what is the level of interest of the candidate in doing or getting that job.

However,it is often seen that the candidates make a mess of this question either by suppressing their strengths in the fear that if the interviewer gets to know they might cross question and turn it into a weak point or they exaggerate their strength thereby boasting about their quality. Both will lead to nothing but failure and rejection.

The inner meaning of the question should be understand. The question can also be interpreted as why should they hire you or what are the qualities in you which the job requires or why you should be given preference over other candidates.Hence you need to properly understand the job profile and keep your answer ready.

You should analyse the requirements of the position you have applied for and make a list of the qualities required for working in that profile.Pick up the qualities you have out of them and offer them as an answer. You must avoid answering this question by bragging about yourself. You should try and mention strengths related to work. You must avoid native answers like “My hard work is my greatest strength”, or “my weakness becomes my strength”. The ideal answers could be “I can adapt to any situation and work atmosphere”, “I’m very flexible”.
