Unfair comparisons being made by the manager

I am working in a private firm and have recently joined the job. Whenever I do something wrong my manager reprimands me and tries to compare me with one of the senior employees who has always been so consistent in his performance. But I think such comparisons are really unfair as he is so experienced and I have just joined the company. How to deal with this ?

    Hello,

The half of the problem is solved when you yourself can find out the shortcoming. You have mentioned in your post your manager's behaviour is not appropriate.Since you are aware of your boss's behaviour ,it wont be good to say anything to him directly as this may ruin the existing situation.Keep your mouth shut and tolerate him.Try to be focus on your work, and try to rectify your mistakes.Take your time, but try your best. And when ever he says anything foul to you, simply ignore his words.

    Hi aspirant

Your manager is certainly making unfair comparisons and thus you should not think much about them. Your manager should definitely try to apply some logic while making such unrealistic comparisons He should compare you with an employee who is at your level and not with someone who holds such a senior position. You should talk to him and make him realise this. Then only you will get relief from such unfair comparisons.

You should talk to him and tell him that you will try your best to do your work with full dedication and make sure that you don't make any mistake but you request him to stop comparing you with the senior employee who has so much more experience than you. You hope that you will not be compared with him again as such comparisons are totally unfair and you hope that this will stop from now on.

I am sure your boss will realise his mistake and will never do such a thing again. Good luck

    Hi,

Your manager is not being unfair, he is trying to make you perfect like the other employee.
Though the example is of senior , you must gain motivation from him.
You can learn many things from him, be a good performer.

As you have joined recently , so making mistakes is common.
you must work smart and avoid mistakes.
This is the time to learn from every body from whom you get a chance.
Stay calm and cool and be polite to your boss.

    Good luck

Every manager of any organisation is suffering from the same disease even you will also do the same when you be a manager as its in human blood, if you try to get away of all these things then you will not understand how to get success because your manager is not your enemy he only wants that you should be a good and perfect employee and thinking for you like that is not a bad thing, if he compare with the seniors then you should take it positively because you are not compared to those who are at the same level as you are, he is comparing you with the senior that means he expect something more from you that also means you have the potential.
You need to prove yourself by doing hard work and in your work once you go one level ahead then the comparison will be with those who are greater than you, not with those whom you have already beaten.
If you like to do something in life then you need to see the positive points of the situation not the negative, if you feel anything wrong then control it for some time as it will get out of you and you will feel good.
Try to make yourself ready for those kind of comparison and make yourself like that as your manager wants you to be.

Dear you are right at your place because you are the junior employee in that company and your boss is trying to compare you with senior and experienced employee so this is absolutely wrong reprimands by your boss on you and if they do not understand then you should try to make them understand over this issue but first of all you should try to avoid mistakes in your work and keep your work and performance consistent like others so you could easily handle your boss because working good and providing better performance every time is the first choice of every single owner of the company that is why they demands for betterment in your performance and work without mistakes and you know that mistakes can be avoided once or twice not again and again so think about it too and try to be better in your working and performance so your manager could be happy with you and do not scold you and compare you again and if you do anything wrong by mistake then you should try to make to understand your boss that sir he is senior and more experienced than me so how can you compare that one with me and if you want to compare then you should do it with any junior employee so I am sure that they will understand about it

    All the best
