    Is there any way to extend the notice period?

    I know everyone will be wondering to get the notice period short but now I am asking for to extend it because the company which I am going to join have asked me to join after a month which means they have delayed the joining date by a month. So will that be possible for me to extend the notice period? If so what should I do for it? Please give me the information.

    Hi friend

    I certainly can understand your reason for getting your notice period extended and i know that you dont want to sit idle during the 1 month by which your joining has been delayed and want to earn money during that period also..But i think it will be very difficult for you to extend your notice period as your company would already be angry at you at leaving them and thus most probably will not entertain your demand..And they may have even recruited a new person in your post and given him the joining date then it will certainly be impossible for you to rejoin..

    But if you are still on good terms with your manager or HR , you can go and speak to any of them regarding this matter and plead for the extension of your notice period..If they really are in need of your services due to your experience they will certainly accept your demand..

    So give your best shot and persuade your HR..Good luck

    I can understand your situation, your company had delayed the time of your joining.. Its difficult to handle your situation..
    They may have some reason in this issue.. I may advice you to consult your HR for the details... Ask them for the extension of your notice perid.., They will surely think about it, and make some solution...

    Dear Aspirant,

    In general the nitice period is mentioned in the terms & conditions of the appointment letter which has to be followed by both the employer & employees.The purpose of the notice period is to settle the financial accounts of the out going employees if it is given by the employees & the purposes meet to prepare & search for another job if it is given by the employer.

    The notice period to be given by the employee can be extended for another period if the manager HR/CEO/MD agrees for the same.So in order to extend the notice period,you should first meet the manager HR & discuss the issue.If you get the positive response,you should give it in writing before submitting your resignation period.

    I hope you can extend your notice period.

    Yes. Notice period will be extended also.

    Generally, there won't be any leaves for employees in the notice period.

    If the employee take leave in the notice period, he need to work for 1 more extra day.

    In that way the notice period will be extended.

    And even in the case of unexpected holidays also.

    The extension of notice period would depends upon your company. Generally the company asks employees to serve the notice period sn that the company can recruit the new employee in place of that. I can understand your problem if the notice period haven't extended, you need to sit one month idle with the loss of pay. Now if the company hasn't recruited any employee in place of your's then you can have the extension. For that you need to give a proper application, requesting for the extension in the notice period.
