The students not able to get used to my accent

I am working as a dance teacher in one of the government schools. I have recently come back from USA and have now joined here a teacher. As a result my accent is quite different. Due to this, my students are unable to get used to it and this is creating a big problem for me. How to deal with such a situation?

This is an obvious problem that the students will not be able to get used to your accent since you have come back from USA and is accustomed with their style. But your students are not. They have been taught in other way till now rather in Indian style which does not resemble the USA style to quite an extent.Hence this is an obvious issue.

Since you are working as a teacher,so you have to cooperate with the students in the beginning and then they will slowly get used to your accent. You have to keep patience in the beginning and should not lose temper unnecessarily when the students are unable to get you.

You should try to understand their psychology first and try to be their friends.Try to adapt to their style and slowly but steadily impart your accent. This will result in mutual understanding. Both you will get to understand them more and they will also get to understand you more. You have to work hard for doing this in the beginning.Slowly your and your students will get to understand better and thus, they will be able to get your teaching comfortably. Also they will learn the good aspects of USA accent through you in this manner.

    Hello,

This can happen to anybody. because of your US accent students are not getting
lecture. There is a fine solution you should pronounce a bit slowly and let your
students to decide wheather they are getting at you or not. If the answer is yes
then the problem is over and if the answer is no then you should talk very slowly
with clear pronounciation, not with the american accent.

    Bye,

    Hello ,
Well it is completely normal for people to have a problem understanding what you are saying .
Students are not acustomed for understanding a US accent which is indeed difficult to understand at the first time .

Give it some time , the students will get used to it eventually .
On yoru part , what you should do is try to speak slowly on purpose .
You must be speaking fast plus the US accent which makes a stranger not understand .
Try speaking in front of the mirror slow and steady .
MAke an effort to say words clearly by oprning your mouth properly .

Have a bit of hand movements while you are speaking and you will notice gradually the students will pick you up
much easily than current situation .

    All the best .
    Thank you !
