Strict rules on attending office on New Year

Every year our salary gets deducted on New Year in the name of getting late as this is obvious that everyone enjoys on the prior day and gets late on 1st Jan. But our employer doesn’t understand and does this same every year. Are there some rules which can abide this?

    Hi aspirant

Your employer is definitely doing the wrong thing by cutting your salary on the new year day i.e. the 1st day of every year. He should not be cutting your salary just because you come late on that day and there are no rules which give your employer the right to do such a thing. You should definitely not let such injustice happen to you and make sure that you make your employer realise his mistake.

You should go to his office and tell him that you and the other employees request him not to cut their salaries on the 1st of every year for coming late as it is obvious that one sleeps very late the day before due to the celebrations and thus tends to get late the next day. You hope that he will understand your problem and thus will relieve you of this deduction of salary.

I am sure your boss will listen to you and thus will not repeat this again. Otherwise you can call a strike and protest against this. Good luck

See if in your company 1st of Jan is a working day than you have to follow all the rules that you follow similarly as on

any other working day. However mostly the bosses not mind on late arrivals in the office on 1st of Jan as they know the reason behind it.

You and your colleagues can ask for little leniency about it hope he would understand.
