Some of the teachers not encouraging their students to take part in extra-curricular activities

I am the Principal of a private school. I am very particular about my students taking part in extra-curricular activities on a regular basis and encourage the same. But I have come to know that there are some teachers in my school who are not encouraging the students to take part in these activities and are just telling them to concentrate on their studies only. I donít think this is right. What should be done with such teachers?

Re: Some of the teachers not encouraging their students to take part in extra-curricular activities

    Hi friend

You should definitely encourageyour students to take part in various extra curricular activities and sports as well other than studies. If they keep on studying all the time this will not help in the development of their personality and also they will not be fit. So of course all the students should make it a point to take part in all these activities and study as well . They should try to strike a balance between the two.

The teachers who are not encouraging the students to take part in such activities and to concentrate just on studies are certainly doing the wrong thing and as a Principal it is your moral duty to tell them they are doing the wrong thing and to tell them to stop such practices. Call all of them to your office and make them realise their mistake.

Tell the teachers that you have come to know that they all are telling their students to concentrate only on their studies and not to take part in any extra curricular activities. This is definitely the wrong approach as they also know that "All work and no play make jack a dull boy". They should understand that taking part in the extra activities is very essential for the proper development of all the students and also their personality. So you should rather tell them to balance both the things so they get an all round and proper development.

So you hope that they will not repeat this mistake again and will encourage all the students to take part in the activities as well. You hope that they will not give you any reason of complaint.

I am sure that all your teachers will listen to you and will not dare to repeat this mistake again. Then allthe students will be encouraged to do so and will have an all round development. Good luck
