Sidelined during international tour by boss

I am working as an office secretary for the last 9 years. Recently, I had been asked to travel abroad regarding some official work. I was told that I was supposed to give a presentation but my junior was asked took over. It was a moment to prove my niche before the higher ups. Couple of times, I have mocked upon for being company owners mouthpiece. How should I address this issue without spoiling the terms?

    Hi...................,

You must converse over this matter.
There might be certain reason why your junior were given your task.
    You must know ---->
    * Did you made any fault.
    * Did you become guilty in front of others.
    * Or might be that you may be given different task.
    * So ask in details about all the happenings.
    * Must be updated towards the decision making .

-- These information should be told to boss very politely.

    Thanks

    Hi aspirant

You should definitely try to prove yourself in front of your higher ups and you should have defintely not missed this chance. Your boss should not have sidelined you in this matter and should have definitely given you a fair chance. You should definitely take some action in this matter to save your reputation and should see to it that you get justice in this case. You should immediately go and talk to your higher ups regarding this matter.

Tell them that recently you were asked to travel abroad regarding some official work. You were told that you have to give a presentation but at the last moment your junior was asked to take over. This is certainly not fair as you really want to go that foreign trip and wanted to prove yourself there. You request them to look into this matter and thus give you a fair chance of proving your capabilities as the office secretary. You will be greatful to them.

In this way , I am quite sure your management will definitely help you out in this matter. Good luck for your future

    Dear,
Do not be so worried. Worry will cause insecurity and may make you do mistakes quite often. So coolly think about the matter.
    1. Juniors must given chance to show there credibility and efficiency.
    2. As a senior your must encourage it.
    3. Always try to support your higher authority or your boss in what ever decision they take.
    4. Never let the jealousy or insecurity feeling win over you.
    5. Do your job with full sincerity and efficiency.
    6. Remember one thing - Junior or senior efficiency does matter (especially at private orgs)
    7. Be a responsible but smart professional at your work place.

    Bye take care.

Dear Friend, I can understand what you're going through and it is very sad. generally when we are working in a team, some people in the team are made scapegoats. It is natural phenomenon of group dynamics. by the question I understand that you have become the victim here. anyway, to tell you frankly all bosses are like this. they tend to favour their favourites. coz after all they are all humans. anyway, lets leave that aside, I suggest you first find the reason why you were side-lined? I think that there should be a strong reason why your boss gave the presentation to your junior at the last minute. the reason might also be genuine. if so then you don't need to worry, you might get a second chance to prove your worth. but if it is not and if it is because of some problem like if they are jealous of you or something, then probably you should try to talk to your colleagues about it and clear your stands, if not at least get in touch with your HR and talk to him/her about it. if you find the reason for their behaviour then you can try ways to correct the same...good luck...

It is sad to know that inspite of working for the past nine years and providing a good service to the organization, still you have not been given a chance for the official tour. And in this case it is really unfortunate that the opportunity was taken away from you in the prime time. However, you should not get depressed and build the determination and work hard to prove that you are worthy enough and the management did a mistake by not providing you an opportunity. But you should first clarify this issue from the concerned higher authority as it was an injustice done to you.

-Sit for a meeting with the concerned higher authority.
-Ask the reasons for not giving you an opportunity.
-Enquire what compelled the to take such type of decision.
-Ask what went wrong with you as this kind of acts are repeated with you again and again.
-Ask how to improve your mistakes in future.
-Enquire what exactly the higher authority expects from you.
-Ask what you should do now inorder to live upto their expectations.
-Thank them for listening to you and being cooperative.
-Enquire about your growth and future opportunities in the company.
-Assure them of your good service from now on.
