Should we give the warning or terminate if an employee is found stealing for the first time?

We have one employee who has been caught stealing from the office premises. As an HR what action should I take? Can I give him warning letter or should terminate for his first mistake?

    Dear..

You should not fire any employee at once. This is the time where you should have patience. Call that employee and ask him the reason for that stealing and see the possible reason of the theft. You cal also send a warning mail to that employee that if we found you again then you will be permanently banned by the company and company will file a case against him, This will surely make him change his behavior.

If nothing happens and the problem continues then its better to fire that candidate.

    Hope ti will help

    Cheers...!!!

Stealing from the office premises is a serious offence and it has to be dealt with at-most care. If any person who has been caught

action has to be taken against him. If he does not give any satisfactory action you can very well suspend him pending inquiry. The

you have to constitute a inquiry commission and direct him to enquire about the incident. And if in the inquire it is found that that

person is guilty you can very well dismiss him so that he cannot raise any legal issue against your company.

    Hi aspirant

I think you should always give everyone a second chance unless they have commited something which cannot be forgiven. But in your case you should certainly give a second chance to your employee. Call the employee to your office and tell him his mistake and how it is a bad mark on his reputation. Tell him this time you are leaving him with a warning and giving him a second chance. He should not repeat this mistake again otherwise he will surely lose his job. Stealing is a bad habit and also very illegal. Also this will make the other employees in the office insecure. Thus he should stop this at once and try to improve himself as a person.

I am sure he will listen to you and never repeat such a grave mistake again. your reprimanding him and the fear of losing his job will certainly teach him a lesson and he may also turn over a new leaf.

As an HR you should certainly try to help your employees in overcoming their faults and improving their mistakes by giving them another chance..Good luck

    Dear Aspirant,

The concerned employee should not have done such silly & ugly misatake. It reflects many bad remarks against the concerned employee. The concerned enployee might be realising for loosing his credit, belief & impression among the colleagues & other staffs.

I think committing mistake is a common character of the human being, but the mistake may be of different in nature. But repeating the same mistake again & again is a habit of the employee. So keeping this point in mind,he may be execused & be given the warning letter so that he could get a lession for not repeating it in future.

    Thanks.

    Ashok..
