Should I leave my present government job for a private one as I think there are more opportunities there?

I am working in a government organisation at present. Recently I got a very good offer from one of the private firms and I think that I will get more opportunities. But my parents are advising me not to leave this government job. I am really confused now. What to do in such a situation?

    Hi,
Dear according to me, its totally tour wish that you are happy with want kind of job. As per your parents concern most of them thing that "government job is good, as compare to private sector". But according to me both sector have their own importance and values. So choice is your if you are happy and earn more in private then just leave your previous job and if you are happy with govt. job then its good.
So just thing for a moment and decide your interest and comfort.
    Thanks

    Hello Aspirant,

It is totally true to say that you will get job security in govt.sector compare to pvt.job.Of course you may have better prospect in pvt.company/firm with respect to salary,facilities/promotions etc.But you should see your length of service in the present govt.job, because if you are in person scheme in govt. job,you should continue here other wise you may decide to join the pvt. job depending upon the status of the pvt.firm, its present financial turn over, nos. of branches, job profile,product/services handling in the pvt. firm.

If the pvt.firm is a national or multinational company & has a good past record in all aspects, you may join the pvt.job.You should also count the transfer aspects in the pvt.firm & in govt.job.If you are in a position to continue your job from your home or from its nearby, you should continue here only because the cost of living will go high when you happen to be away from your home.

So count all the factors & then decide what to do or not.

    Thanks.

    dEAR fRIEND,

iT DEPENDS ON YOUR INTEREST AND ETHICS.

iF YOU LIKE TO CONTRIBUTE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETY YOU MAY CONTINUE IN GOVERNMENT SECTOR.

aLSO GOVT SECTOR IS HASSLE FREE AND THE OPTION OF PENSION IS ALSO AVAILABLE.

BUT IF YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN SKILLS AND TO EARN A HELL LO6T OF MONEY AND IS READY TO TAKE CHALLENGES THEN YOU MAY GO FOR PRIVATE SECTOR.

yOUR PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWING SINCE THE GOVET SECTOR JOBS ARE MORE SECURE THAN ITS PRIVATE COUNTERPART.

    WISH YOU ALL THE BEST.

    hello,
I am of the opinion that government jobs should not be left at the cost of private one as
    1. there is opportunity of job security in government job.
    2. there is better facility provided.
    3. more over there is provision of medical treatment, better and cheap education for children and tour passes etc.
    4. working hour is fixed.

Re: Should I leave my present government job for a private one as I think there are more opportunities there?

The main reason why the youth of India are choosing the government and public sector jobs is that youth of India are more inclined towards secured and stable jobs and decent work timings only, which you might not get in private sector .. your parents were right in advising you sometimes you cannot ignore their view and their perspective of seeing things as our parents do want their child to settle in life have job security and be stable at one location, in private jobs there is an uncertainty that a person will not work in a private company for about 10 years you can never guarantee the stay of an private employee in the company so you can sense a fact that your service is for a small period of time only.. your parents have to see you comfortable in your future that is when you retire you will enjoy the benefits of retirements and pension plans.. recently pension plan for the governments employees is passed in both houses of parliament this would benefit a lot in your life .. so the life in government job will run soo smooth that you will not find so much pressure in functionary than you feel in private sector there will be deadlines for a particular project and you will be working over nights as well where as in government sector you really have decent timings in the work you do and public sector projects have government funding and also the back up is so huge that you have a feeling that you have time freedom no pressure only little to do job security which is unaffected by market conditions.. which has become the top priority among the citizens ..

now that the marriages are also complicated even though a bride holds a salary of 1 lakh per month in an IT sector also parents of girls do even dare these days to make their daughter to ,marry an private employee that reason behind is that market conditions they fear that if market is bad and the recent falling value of rupee has created fear in minds of private it sector then they might loose their jobs.. when ever the condition of an private consultancy firm gets bad with less growth values from European markets then middle level management employees like software developers will face the axe and giving pink slip has been common these days so every day tension and worry pressure in private sectors have really made a huge impact in the mindsets of people.. the banking sector jobs are a hot jobs these days IBPS examination saw around 19 lakhs of total students giving the exam that shows how the youth have interest in what job they do..

i do agree that opportunities are more in private sector but when you have got job in government sector its better you continue the job itself...if your tired and frustrated then it would be better that you start preparing for civil services only if your below 30 years or you can also give RBI(reserve bank of India) examinations where you find pretty good roles and it in banking and financial sector so explore more opportunities in central government sector rather you come to private sector so be smart in selecting never give up government sector jobs..
