Should I leave my job this time if I donít get an increment as it has already been a year?

I am working in a government organisation. Its already been a year since I am waiting for another increment.Even after so many promises my boss has never kept his word. I am thinking of leaving this job if I donít get the increment this time. Will this be the right decision on my part?

    Dear Aspirant,

It may not be your good decision to resign from the govt.job due to not getting the annual increment of salary. Here it is to be clear that annual increment to all the employees in the govt.organisations are sanctioned on the 1st every year unless & until the employee is not in stagnation period or the employee is not in suspension or not in regular duty.

So you must see your position for not getting your annual increment of your salary & must rectify your problem.Submitting resignation is not the solution yo your problem. You may not get your another govt.job after submitting your resignation from this job & it is not sure that you will not have any problem in your new job.

So be in regular duty & maintain your character good to get your annual increment in your salary.

    Thanks & good luck.

Leaving a job must be a decision which must be taken very carefully, you must have a clear picture in your mind about the decision. Like you must know what you will be doing after you quit from the job. If you don't have any other option after quiting the job than this decision of quitting the job can cause problems for you. You want to quit the job because you are not getting the increement but if you will leave the job than atleast for the time you look for a new job you would be payless which is not at all a profitable thing to do.

If you think that you deserve more and you have much better opportunities with you right now than quitting this job will not be a big thing but if you don't than it is. See any decision you take you must be sure about its effect on your career. Gap in jobs effects your candidature. If you think you are not getting enough here and there is no much growth left for you in the organistion than you must start looking for better jobs but quit this job only when you get a better option against this.

Also there are chances that you could get an increement in next few days, as your boss has consented on it. So with your job in hand you can also get an increement sooner or later while applying for the other jobs, and if you get a satisfactory increement till you get a new job than you can even think of continuing this job after all it is a govenrment job.

If you like to leave the job because of the salary then you should think twice before quitting the job, because money you can get anytime but the perfect job where you can spend more than a year never will be there.
So before giving the resignation you can consult with the general manager that it has been more than 1 years and you are not getting the promotion and the increment , if he says that it will be done after some days then you need to ask him when , and whenever it happen you need to wait for that, because working in an same organisation with growth will be better for you and it also adds charm to your resume that you worked there for 2 years and also got the promotion there and all.
Any company will see the growth in the resume.
so before leaving the job think twice may be there will be far better option will be there.

    hello friend,
As you said that you are working in govt organization, and you are not getting increments as stated . This is minor issue, if you are not getting increments then just wait for some time you will definitely get it. Money is not everything, you should also see the environment you are working in. You should see the satisfaction.
If you are satisfied that except for increment you are treated good then you should not leave the job.
I think you should wait for some time , and in the mean time you should prepare for the other govt interviews and participate in them.
If you could crack some interview and could get some other good post then at that time you can leave this post.
