Should copies be checked leniently keeping in mind the interest of the students?

I have been working in a private engineering college for the past six months. Now I have been assigned the duty of checking the semester exam papers of the students. Will it be right to check the exam papers leniently and allotting good marks to the students thinking about their career?

    Hello,

As a teacher you should keep it in mind that you should give marks according to the standard of the answer scripts.Give what they deserve.Giving unnecessary marks( that is what they dont derserve) wont help them in future.Because they have to face interviews in order to get a job.If it happens that their result shows huge percentage, but interview reflecting something then it will be a matter of shame for the student as well as the college. There is no need to be extremely strict nor too lenient, maintain a balance between the two.

    Hello ,
More than leniently the checking should be FAIR . These days the checking in many universities exam papers are not justified .
There are lot of cases coming up where students even after sending " re-evaluation " request , the papers are not checked properly .
Lot of teachers take their grudge upon the studuents which i think is not justified .
Moreover , giving marks in a very linient manner will also spoil your students as they will not be able to understand which portion of the syllabus is thier
weakness and may lose in the long run .

So, the chekcing should be fair and marks can be giving according to the content written in the paper .
As you are a professor in an Engineering college , your students should have the knowledge so you should be casual whiling checking
their papers as the same time judge whether the student deserves it or not else there will be no difference in the student who
worked hard and the student who dint not put much efforts .
I hope you do decide whatever is best for the students .
    thank you !
