    Should astrology be brought in during recruitment?

    I am working as a reputed senior officer in an MNC. Recently the higher authority is having discussion of bringing in astrology during recruitment of employees. They have asked my view over this. I am really confused regarding this because I believe in astrology but at the same time concerned about the negative publicity of our MNC regarding this issue. What all points should I put forward to the higher authority?

    I personally believe that astrology should not be brought into the picture during the recruitment of the employees. This is certainly lead to negative publicty of your company and may even lead to its downfall. Tell your higher authorities that although you believe in astrology but it should not be brough into such things which are solely dependent on merit like the recruitment process. Tell them that the employees should be recruited on the basis of their calibre and their experience, going by their resume, rather than on such things as their horoscope and whethere that will be beneficial for the company or not.Their performance in their previous jobs and their qualifications should speak for them not their astrology patterns.

    If they follow astrology, then this would show the narrow-mindedness and irrationality in their approach and thus would ruin the integrity and reputation of their company if the people come to know about it. Also they would certainly become a laughing stock. So to avoid such hassles related directly with their company's future and to give everyone a fair chance of selection , solely depending upon their brilliance, they should not include astrology in the recruitment process.

    I am sure your higher authorities would be more than happy to accept your points as they are for the benefit of the company and thus will not even think about this again. I hope you and your company have a bright future ahead and progress greatly.

    Hi........,

    Its my personal suggestions---->
    * Astrology is a complex issue to discuss.
    * Astro means to study a human being.
    * I thing psychology must be introduced in recruitment.
    * Stress interview is also a new idea introduced in interviews.
    * Astrology is thus a vast discussion and only selected fields under it can be introduced at starting.

    Hi,

    Friend,we are living in the 21st century.
    Gone are those days when people used to believe in customs and black magic.
    Now this generation is more practical in nature.
    I don't think that there should be any kind of astrology that needs to be involved in the recruitment process.
    You must select a candidate based on his abilities and not on the basis of which Zodiac sign he has and what does astrology says about that candidate.
    You need to be practical in life.
    There is nothing that a candidate who is intelligent,skilled,hard working and talented will not be beneficial for the company just because his astrological background does not go with the company.
    Forget about all this and select candidates on the pure basis of skill and talent!

    Dear Sir!

    I don't think it can make very accurate predictions. I believe this is what astrology is all about. I also think that to really determine if a sign shapes a person, rather than the person shaping their self to the sign, we'd have to find somebody who has never heard of astrology and see if they still match.
    Astrology is an age - old method for predicting the future. The astrologers used to advise the most important people of the time by interpreting the sign of destiny and in particular, the movement of the planets. Astrology tells you what lies ahead for you an gives you all the means you need to move forward.

    It is really a very interesting question.It is the first time to hear such type of question.To my mind,it is not good to apply astrology for recruitment of the employees.In order to convince your higher authority,you can say that it is not being implemented by any govt.organisation,it is not in practice by any other pvt.company & no astrologer can predict the act & real result of any one for future.Astrology is a very vast subject & it is very difficult to predict the exact result in future.

    Your higher authority himself can get help of the astrologist as to what he has to do for betterment of the company.What he thinks is not in practice & if he tries to implement it in his company,he will get the negative publicity of the company as well as for himself.As all the individuals are very much cautious for their betterment,it does not need to get judged the candidates by the astrologist for recruitment.Most of the individuals are guided & influenced by some of the guru/pandit/astrologer etc as to their carrier & future.

    Getting selected with the help of astrologer is not permitted by law & if it is applied in your company,It may lead to face the legal procedure.

    So you can convince your higher authority with the above points.

    Astrology is not in a position to do good for all,so atleast this moment astrology should not be implemented anywhere as a real achievement.It is quite sure if you tell something good favouring astrology then company will ask you to fix target as per astrology and ultimately your existing skill which you have ie without astrology you will definitely loose it if you favour astrology.So,in terms of reality you show few points against astrology,which is not really attached with the recruitment.

    1.Astrology deals with future without guarantee.

    2.Astrology is not insurance company that will compensate.

    3.Astrology deal's with uncertainity ie(may or may not).

    4.There is no certainity,if there is any good result ie deem as exception,exception is seen everywhere then why we will support Astrology,when we have everything,hand,leg,mouth eye etc.

    You can adopt only for mental peace,genuine peace as a whole can not bring astrology.Always you think sirs/madams "work is worship/everything".

    Firstly , it sounds strange to bring astrology during the recruitment. This should not be done in an MNC.

    -->> You can ask your higher authority not to implement this in MNC as this will create a negative impact on your MNC.

    -->> Moreover astrology has got nothing to do with the company.
