Seven days salary deducted on denying for official tour

My office arranged an official tour for 10 days to Coimbatore and 5 people including me were selected to go there. My husband didnít allow me to attend the tour due to my childís health. This made my boss angry and deducted my 7 days salary.

    Dear Aspirant,

Generally,it is a common problem to withheld the salary of the employee in case of not obeying the office order, which is not good.In fact explanation should be asked from the concerned employee in such case.

You need not worry for the incidence.Draft a letter to the manager HR,mentioning the details of the situation & enclose a medical certificate with request to release your salary.Get the letter forwarded by your boss, explaining the situation to him.

Hope you will be entertained positively,if not you may contact your employer for redressal of your problem.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Hi friend

Your boss should definitely have not reacted in this way and should have understood your problem before giving you such a punishment. He should always try to help out his employees and should listen to them patiently before taking any decision against them. You should definitely raise your voice against such injustice and thus not let your boss take such undue advantage of your innocence. Your reason was genuine and he should have listened to you.

Go to his cabin and tell him that you are totally surprised at his behaviour with you . He should have first listened to your reason for not going to the tour and then only should have reacted to it. He has not done the right thing by deducting your 10 days salary. Your child is not well and thus you can't leave him alone for 10 days. You hope that he will give you your money back otherwise you will be forced to complain to the higher authorities.

I hope your boss will definitely feel ashamed of his behaviour with you.Good luck

    Dear Friend
I cannot say that whatever what your boss did was entirely wrong. Mainly because, as you said, it was an official tour. And it means that you were on duty on that time and you didnít go for the tour means you didnít attend duty.
But before we jump to conclusions, I would like to ask you something first. Did you inform your boss in advance that you cannot go for the tour because of your problem? If you didnít go for the tour, did you at least go to office? If you didnít go for the tour, did you apply for leave?
If you had applied for leave, then I donít think your salary should be deducted. And if you had gone to office, at least can consider that point and not deduct your salary.
One more thing; did you boss asked you to do some important work during this tour? Maybe you had to make a presentation etc., in that case you boss is really pissed off and I can understand that.
What you can do is, if you have a HR department in your office, go talk to them. Convince them that you had a genuine problem. See what they suggest.
If you feel comfortable, go to your boss and tell him politely about your genuine problem. Tell him that that you are sorry, accept your mistake; even if you feel that you are right. This might help.
    Good luck....

Hii, well this is a common problem now a days. You should not create an issue for this. Try to avoid it. Earlier on the first hand you denied the tour because of personal reason but management is professional and there decisions cant be changed. From next time keep this thing in mind. You can go and talk to the authorities about it for sure. May be your explanation can undone the deed. But be careful while discussions. Dont argue much just calmly explain them the reason. Thanks
