    Are sales people liable to come on Sundays with no compensations?

    Is it mandatory for the sales team to come office on Sundays and no compensation also made? Our boss denies giving any kind of compensation either in form of monetary benefit or a compensated holiday. Please suggest me some remedy to overcome such autocratic culture of ours.

    In Sales profile the scenario told by you is quite common in India.
    In Sales only benchmark to check the performance is the sales targets.

    Your boss is being told by his boss to meet the targets and that also involves coming on weekly off days and that may include sundays.
    If your team and you individually are not meeting the targets than your boss may ask you to come on sundays, though legally it is not right
    In sales you get compensation and incentives based on the targets that you achive.

    But still all your team members can request your boss to give you the weekly off on sundays , so that you are relaxed and charged up to perform your duties in the next week.

    Hello,

    Yes,your boss is simply showing his autocratic tendency.As per the norms,every worker,whether working in sales dept.or accounts dept.or what ever,is entitled to get atleast one holiday if not two,per week.Many offices give holidays on saturday too.If their remains any work pressure then they keep their office open on saturday but not on sunday.You should get a day off on sunday.If you are forced to be present on sunday also,then you should get compensation ie.extra charges for working more.Try to get your organisations rules and regulations in a documented form,and then challenge your boss! Before that.confim first and get it in printed form.

    Hello !!

    no i don't think that it is mandatory for the sales employee to join the office on sunday also.
    as sunday is professional holiday.
    so if you are made to work on the sunday than the company have to pay you extra day salary.
    and if they are not paying than you may ask them for the same that why they are not paying instead they are taking extra work from them.

    so, you write an application to your boss regarding this ask him for the compensation.
    he will surely think upon it.

    Dear Friend!

    Any company don't have right to come office on Sundays for sales team or any employees without compensation. If company have argent work and force to come office for sales team, they need to pay compensation for that. If they don't pay you can forbid without any hesitation if don't have any fear weather company terminate me or not if I forbid to work without compensation.

    Hi............,

    Sales team must be goal oriented.
    If you are new to such team then you have to face such difficulties at earlier stage.
    But a old reputated employee get compensation in form of holidays.
    So think about your goal first and try to achieve it faster.
    Once goals are completed your reputation in company also increases.

    Dear Aspirant,

    It depends upon the policy of the company/organisation.It is seen practically in some of the pvt.company that the employees work more than 12 hrs per day in some special period without any compensation.The employees prefer to work due to present unemployment problems.Of course it is not legal.But if you want to protest for not coming to office on sunday,you can jointly present to the head of the company & if you are not entertained positively,you may get legal help.But you should have common agreement among all the employees to protest together,if any of you is punished by the management.In such case,the leader is punished by the employer & deceived by the co-employees.

    So think well & move forward.

    See,in this case you need to talk to your management regarding this issue.
    The employees of an organization are also human beings and not machines like robots.
    Even they need sufficient amount to relax and come over the stress at work place.
    I will suggest you to go and talk to the management once and discuss this issue with them.
    Try to convince them that you need sufficient amount of time to relax and refresh yourself.
    Tell them that if you don't get enough time to relax,you won't be able to put in your 100% at work.
    Hence your performance will go down and in turn,the organization will take a hit.
    Hence convince them that it is very important that you get sufficient time to relax!
    I hope that the management will consider your point of view and will provide you holiday on Sunday's or on other day's.
