Sales officers are taking bribe from the firms to exempt them from paying sales tax

I am working in sales tax department. I have just joined the department. I have noticed that some senior officers are taking bribe from many firms. The firms are not paying the sales tax which is illegal according to government rules. I want to raise my voice against it. What should I do as I donít want to get highlighted?

Its a wise decision to highlight the corruption at government places.
Also its right not to get highlighted as this will lead to trouble as people who are corrupt start creating problems for those who report against them.

There is a vigilance team in each govt departments.
You need to write to them, but you need to have subtantial proof against the officers you are complaining, so that the vigilance team takes action against those who are taking bribes.

Hi.. I am certainly happy and proud of you that you are taking action against such corrupt practices and try to raise your voice against them.. It is understandable that you dont want to get highlighted as it is really very dangerous and these corrupt people can do anything to save their skin..

So what you should do first is gather ample evidence against these corrupt officials and when you have enough evidence to substantiate your case then you write an Anonymous letter to your Head about these corrupt practices giving the evidence along with it.. This will certainly help your cause and your Head will certainly take action and dismiss such people.. And dont talk regarding this to anyone as you cant trust anybody..

    Best of luck.. Thanks

    Hi,

It is good that you have thought of raising your voice against it.

You can write a mail without disclosing your name to senior authorities of the concerned department.

You can also write a letter telling about the matter of bribe.

The vigilance team will take action against it.

In this way, you will report the matter also and won't get highlighted also.

    Dear Aspirant,

You are totally right. The corruption must be eradicated at all level in the govt.organisation.There is a need of people like you.But being an employee, you can not do much in this connection.Being in the same department at lower post, you can not take any direct action against the corrupt senior employees. You can report to the concerned department i.e vigilance or to your head of the department, but you will find no result.

To my mind,You can only be an example of an honest employee in the department If you continue to work with the current enthuasism & honesty & that will be the best way.You have joined there not as a enquiry officer or a vigilance officer to watch & take action for such things. If you are interested to eradicate corruption to some extent, you must try to join CBI or state vigilance department at higher post.

So my advise is to work well yourself.Proof yourself for honesty, efficiency, punctuality, well behaved. These things will pay you much.

Hope the above advise will help you much.

    Thanks.

    Ashok
