Are researchers paid on projects only or there are regular incomes?

Various companies hire researchers for there companies. Are these researchers been paid regularly as a normal employee working in any organisation or they are paid only for certain finding projects for limited period of time. If so then why the studies are forever used by the companies only?

Re: Are researchers paid on projects only or there are regular incomes?

It depends on the need and way the company works. If the company has policy to appoint researchers temporarily on particluar researchers than they will pay to the researcher in that period only. If the researchers are permanent employees than they will be treated as regular employees. The payment process and the working conditions are based on the mutual agreement between the researcher and the company. The usage of data and things related with it are decided on the basis of terms and condition signed by the researcher. See the company bears all the cost of research so that the findings they get can be used by them to gain something and get back the investment they did. Due to this only the company invests in research. Until and unless they won't think the research findings could be profitable why would they will invest such huge sum of money and pay the researchers.
