Is it really needed to get the house owner signed receipt for climbing HRA in company?

It's already end of year and now I wanted to climb the HRA for tax exemption and now for that is it mandatory to get the signature of the house owner to climb it? Can you please provide me more details on this? Waiting for the responses.

No never must not demand for house owner signed receipt. Employees' declaration is enough to issue an a/c payee cheque/dft in the name of house owner. This is the right and valid way employee is the guarantor regarding the name of Land lord he can not deny that company did not issue cheque/dft fvg house owner's name again cheque/dft to be encashed through a/c.so, on behalf of company house owner's signed receipt is not mandatory.

    Thank you,
