Is it a problem if I get less rank than my previous attempt in NET?

I want to be a teacher for that reason I applied for NET examination. But did not get a satisfactory rank . In a hope of getting a good rank I attempted it once again. But it resulted in a greater failure than before. Can I use my previous year rank in this year to get a good college of my choice for a lectureship post.

First of all to make things clear, NET that is National Eligibility test is for eligbility regarding lecturership in universities as per UGC guidelines. For any person to be eligible for applying for opening of post of lecturer/assistant professor in universities he have to be NET qualified. So if you are asking about this particular exam than there is not much value of rank in it. For being eligible for any post based on NET exam you just have to qualify this exam. Ranks in this exam mostly is for differentiating students for eligibility regarding fellowships that is JRF for PhD. Like if you have scored and have rank above the cutoff list of JRF which is higher than the cut off list of NET LS than you get a fellowship of around 16000rs permonth for doing a PhD. As you are applying for lecturership post you can use your any NET exam certificate as it as no validity period unlike of JRF which is for one year. So you need not to worry about this and can apply on any of your NET certificate.

For interviews many other things are also seen besides your NET exam like your academic qualifications. As now a days competition have increased so there are many PhD students also with NET for such lecturership post. So if you can try to get a PhD besides your application for Lecturerships post to improve your qualifications.

    Dear Aspirant,

NET is National Eligibility test being conducted by UGC twice in a year. The purpose of this test is to identify the eligible candidate for lectureship. The candidates those who qualify NET become eligible to apply for lectureship. The validity of the result is forever.

As per the validity, you are eligible to apply for lectureship in any college. There is no any effect of ranking in the NET qualified result.Only your name in the qualified rank is enough to be eligible to apply for lectureship.

If you had got a good rank in the qualified list,You would have been eligible to enroll your name for Ph.D with a scholarship for a period of 5 years. The scholarship is continued till you get selected for lectureship within 5 years from the date of enrollment for Ph.D.

So You can very well apply for lectureship on the basis of the previous result in NET.

    Thanks & good luck.
