    One of the employees in our company always bullies his juniors but the boss never tells him anything

    I am working in a software company. One of the senior employees in our company always bullies his juniors and derives pleasure from that. Our boss also doesnít tell him anything and this encourages him even more. How to solve such a matter so that he learns his lesson?

    Hello Aspirant,

    In fact it is not good to behave rudely with juniors always.You must oppose for it,because he is also an employee & you too are an employee with same qualification.In order to stop it,first of all, join all of you together & discuss the matter .If you are united,your boss won't dare to harm any of you.Then you should first meet your boss jointly & report the matter.Also say this this misbehaviour should be stopped immediately otherwise we may take the matter to still higher authority giving proof or reporting the matter to you,but no action has been taken so far.

    Thus your boss probably realise his short comings & there may be some solution for you.If not report the matter to the next higher official in writing.There may be any enquiry for the matter & action may be taken against your boss & the concerned senior authority.

    At times such situations do arise at professional places. However, instead of getting irritated and annoyed with others, we need to take an appropriate action against such people. In fact, recently there was an incident in the news when unable to take the constant harassment by fellow trainees at a private company in Nashik, a 17-year-old girl committed suicide on Sunday. Six boys and four girls, whose names were mentioned in her suicide note, have been arrested for ragging her and remanded to four daysí police custody.

    Henceforth, if a formal mail is written to the HR of the company, then I am sure an action can be taken against the individual who is in the habit of bullying his colleagues.

    All you need to do is either talk to the HR yourself or ask the colleague being tortured to write a mail to the HR about all the jibes made on him.

    Hi,
    As you mention that boss also doesn't tell him anything, so in this case all employees(juniors) should write an email and discuss complete matter in it. So send this email to all senior members in management. I am pretty sure that your management team take some action regarding that. Also mention that lots of employee work suffer fromthis type of incidents.
    So please take necessary action and i am sure that we got some positive response from your side.
    This should be language which you need to kept in email.

    Well, this should not be tolerated at all in a work place. Every employees should respect and honour each other otherwise there will be no harmony at work place. As a senior the individual should know his responsibilities better than anyone else. But there are many people like him in our society who lacks basic civic sense to respect individual liberty. Your boss should take taken steps a lot earlier but it seems to me he has soft feeling to that senior individual. You should approach to the higehr authorities and report this issue immediately so that they can take some steps against this individual. If you have the opportunity you should talk to him and ask him whether he likes bullying and insulting his juniors at work place or not? Such question needs to to be told to him to make him realise that he is violating his norms at work place.

    when a manager is encouraging that then its really shameful and irresponsible hopeless approach and its like he should be immediately resign from a respectable post and join the senior as a part of cheap tactics played by senior and bullying juniors I think these things have become common part of making juniors face lot of problems in starting phase of their professional life never mind i am telling you the truth that girls who are good and behaved also face this kind of stupid irrational harassment in major software company sometimes these people make hell in the work place.. its really shameful that a person from a respectable position encourages this crime its so sinful even to hear to what your saying it in your words that a manager is involved in all this act of one among the seniors donít worry be brave and strong emotional quotient should be under control donít be afraid of job when you feel that your job is under threat be cool and never respond to it and when you donít respond then it would be best for you if you react and loose control then all the seniors will single out a junior and further they tend to make you feel like you are in hell and if you donít react and be cool to whatever bluff you listen ignore them and relax whatever they say and bully you be calm give the seniors tension not you.. If you donít react then you seem to give him irritation and he becomes so impatient that will will keep quiet be cool to critics answer them when youíre at right position... Juniors do face all these problems as donít have to get assistance at work so you will have to control your emotions..

    you cannot fight with bullies when manger is involved the only thing is that all you juniors should unite yourself and be cool and make fun of your seniors to yourself donít go personal but unity is strength in your case .. donít try to fight with seniors as they are experienced you get all the necessary information from them extract the info based on project take all the help from them and develop the skills rather you take those bullying words to yourself as something personal .. When you respond to your seniors in bad way then I guess it would be difficult to work in those condition of disturbance and lack of friendly atmosphere.. when you get pretty experienced you donít have to listen all these stuff as you will follow job rotation policy to expect career growth as your in bad atmosphere donít expect you get promotions and encouragement sometimes you need to face all these behavior from seniors so I would rather tell you to develop skill set concentrate on strengths and be positive.. by facing these you will develop the great level of patience in yourself this is what is required to go heights in your career.. Its only about the experience you gain from company and you consider the rotation policy to achieve something in your life

    try to consult seniors who are good to you all seniors try to explain the words and bad behavior you face from him so its good that you have a pleasing talk with good people at office if possible try to report the ugly behavior of an senior employee to HR manager and take his suggestions as well ..

    Dear Aspirant,

    The nature of persons varies from each other.Some persons over thinks for himself & inferior to others.So you need not tolerate such things,because every one has self respect.I think you are equal in qualification to him & only junior in job.It is nothing wrong in it.You may also be senior in job after some times.

    In order to protest the issue,you should join together with all your other colleagues & write a joint application addressed to your boss with a copy to your company head.Meet jointly with your colleagues to your boss & head of the company & request to stop the matter immediately.

    Hope the matter will be stopped & you all will be happy.
