Nurses prescribing medicines to the patients

I am an intern working in a private hospital. In this hospital I have noticed a very strange thing. Even some of the nurses here are prescribing medicines to the patients which is highly illegal. In my knowledge only doctors are legally allowed to prescribe medicines to the patients. How to stop such a practice?

    Hi buddy

You should take steps to stop such ilegal things and practices happening in your hospital as it can be bad for the patients and to avoid such mishaps you should definitely talk to your hospital management or any senior doctor regarding this. You should definitely not let the nurses prescribe medicines as they are not authorized to do so.This can affect the health of the patients and then the reputation of your hospital will be in trouble.

So you should go and speak to the hospital management. Tell them that you have noticed some of the nurses prescribing medicines to the patients which is definitely illegal and thus you want them to take control of this situation as it can affect the reputation of your company. I am sure your management will definitely agree with you and thus punish the culprits as they deem it fit.

So friend be brave and report it to your management. Good luck and Thanks

    Hello,

Yes it is absolutely illegal.Nurses are not meant for prescibing any sort of medicine to any of the patients, they have no right to do so.Doctors are only entitled to prescribe medicine.Firstly identify those nurses who are found involved in this type of practises.Warn the matron of the nurses' so that she doesnot allow anybody to do such thing.Inform the higher authorities and the doctors working in the hospital.Once this news goes to the higher authorities they will take immediate action. The matron will also be held responsible,as how could anybody ignore her eyes and do anything like that? She will also be answerable regarding her irresponsibility in her work.
