Is it not the responsibility of employers to take care of employee's safety?

I am working in a Shopping mall. Because of a serious event the opposition party called for Bihar bandh for 6 hours. We had a working day as no notification regarding the same was announced. The Bandh people came inside our office and tried to harm us even misbehaved with female candidates.Until the situation got worse the employer then said to leave the office. Are employers free from the botheration of employees safety?

    Hello Aspirant,

In general, all shops are closed on such occasion. The employer should not have allowed to open the shop on the day stated. If at all the shop was opened, the employer should not have asked the employees to leave the place in between the agitation. The shop should been shut down from inside the shop for time being & after some time you all would have been asked to leave the place.

The employer should take all possible measures for safety of the employees. You should have meeting with all your colleagues & give a joint petition to your employer to take precaution for safety in future & if you want, you can take legal help for the incident happened. If the employer regrets for the same, you can leave the matter being first time, but be cautious for future.

    Good luck.

    Dear,
Yes it is correct that welfare of employees are the responsibilities of the employer in the office atmosphere. I think that at that incident your employer is at fault as when he knows about the bandh he should have closed the office or have informed it to the administration of the city.
The suggestion which i have given you is because in todays world riots takes place very easily on such basis.

    Hope this will help you.

you have the responsibility to keep the working place free from disturbance. If any bundh happened near by,and if you feel that the is going on for good think then you have the responsibility to keep bundh for the time the bundh continues. If it not like that then you should not bother about it.If any people came and destroy your furniture then you have to close the shop in order to get any furniture spoiled...
    all the best
