Not getting double the previous salary hike after 5 years as promised before

I am working in a software company. When I joined this company , I was promised by the manager that we will be getting salary hike every year and that it will be doubled after 5 years. But now after 5 years they are not keeping their promise and thus are not doubling my salary hike. How to deal with such a situation?

    Hi,

Promising in mouth is as simple as no promise...If you have a copy of written communication from them, you can simple ask for the hike...
But as per your question, it seems that the promise was verbal...no way to get the same...
However you can discuss the issue with your boss and HR...if they will think that the same was agreed once upon a time, they can think about the same...otherwise just forget and try for another job immediately...those who can't keep their promises...no need to stay there..

Get a jump while changing the job...and forget the issue..

See in private firms thing can change now and than and there is no guarantee for anything.

As you have said that you were promised for doubling your salary it could have also changed with time.

As such things are depends on the performance of the company and if the company performs well you will automatically get a hike which you want.

If the company not find reasonable to hike your salary in favor of there company than they will never increase it.

You should ask the reason that why they are not able to give the hike as this will make you much clear about the current situation.

If you don't get a satisfactory reply and if it seems that there is not much growth left for you in the company than you should start applying for new

    jobs.

As 5 years is a good experience behind you and if you think that you are not getting upto the current industry standards than you have all possible

reason to find a better job opportunity.
