Hi, There is no harm in doing some extra work for your boss. It will only help you to be in good books of your boss and also enhance your skills. However, you must take care that other colleagues of your do not take an undue advantage of yours and burden you with their responsibilities. In my opinion, if your boss gives you some additional responsibilities, take it up with a smile on your face but say a polite no to others coming and overburdening you. Tell them that in sugar coated words that you are already booked by a number of responsibilities and would not be able to help them for the moment. Once they would get two or three refusal on your end, they themselves would stop bothering you. But, keep assisting your boss because it would oblige him and in return you would also get an opportunity to learn more. Thanks.

    Hi,

It is common that people take advantage of good people.
But you should be strong enough to not let yourself down and let others take advantage of your goodness.

You can refuse by saying simply no to your colleagues.
Tell them that you already have lot of work for yourself and cannot take responsibility of doing there work also.
Never ever do the work of your colleagues.
If you do so they will become selfish and will give you more and more work each time.
Do not take the burden of their work even if they insist and make excuse for getting help from you.
This will reduce 50% of your work load or more.

When it is about boss, you can make excuses and say no.
Tell him that you are already burdened with so much work and will not be able to do it.
Do not refuse every time, initially refuse for some work.
So, he will automatically give you less work.
Like wise start refusing for every work and he will not feel bad.

Remember sometimes it is advantageous to help your boss but not too much that he take advantages of your politeness.

    good luck

    hello,
well you are doing good by helping others but keep in mind that you do not burden of something you should not on your shoulder.it seems you are a simple person who does not know how to say no to people. well you must keep in mind you say "YES " or NO" that does not offends any one. it is your decision to work or to not to work, not some one's else. you should not get bothered by what people might think about you , because it gonna be you who has to live your life not them. they will talk , make fun etc but this would not affect you in any way. people talk then they stop it whenever they get a new person to make fun, its their work. but you should learn to say "NO" as this is your life. take care.

hello friendTo say no to any boss is very difficult but it can do by taking some important rules.if you want to earn more and more then it is a golden chance but it depends on your choice or habbit.if you don't want earn more money then you should set a limit for your work that you are going to complete daily.if you will complete your work within allotting time then any official members will not press for more work.you should maintain working time that shut your allotted time.thanks

    Hi aspirant

    1) You should certainky not let others take advantage of you.
    2) It was due to your good nature that you were always willing to help them but now i think that they have crossed their limits.
    3) Everything should be within limits..As you know excess of everything is bad.
    4) Firstly when they ask you for anything , you give them cues or hints indirectly that you are not willing to do it.
    5) If they still persist then refuse them politely
    6) If you have a genuine reason then its all the more good ..

THis world is really full of bad people trying to take advantage of your good nature and thus getting their work done..So dont let them take advantage of your kind nature..Be strict with such people..Good luck friend

Hi, it is good if you do additional work, as you will be able to gain a lot out of it..but at times you must take care ..you should be bold enough to say 'no' as equivalent as you say 'yes'..all the best and take right decision

How to say no for extra work from boss or colleagues?

I find myself taking on more and more work everyday. I can’t say no to my boss or colleagues. Initially I did not mind helping people much but recently I find that they are taking advantage of me. Which is the easiest way to say ‘no’ without offending anybody.
