My boss wants me to give evidence against an employee for stealing his laptop when I havenít been an eyewitness to that

I am working in a software company. Recently our bossís laptop got stolen. Now he is sure that a certain employee is the culprit but he has no evidence against him.So he wants me to give false evidence against him when I havenít been an eyewitness to that. I am really in a big dilemma here. What should be done in such a situation?

    hello,
it is a bit tough situation if you go on your boss side then your colleague will hurt and if you dont say a word about the stolen thing then your boss will hurt.so situation is somewhat tricky but your desicion will be a solution for your boss.if your boss is so good and a nice person then you may give an evidence regarding it and if you think your boss lies to you always then you may object it.
if you know your colleague that he is a good one then you may be against your boss saying that he is not that type.
if your boss does not listen to you and he wanted you give you the evidence then it is in your hands.
    think twice before you act.
    thank you................

    hi
laptop ainít a cheap thing that it doent requires any extra attention. This is a very serious issue that need to be taken down very seriously. Therefore you should help your boss to find him the laptop but you should not be gathering any kind of false evidence until you donít get any true ones. Because collecting the false evidences and proving guilty to the one who does not did anything, it is not at all correct as humanity.

If your boss wants to say a lie to throw the employee from the company then never help him as you dont know that why your boss is trying to do that. Without knowing the truth never take the decision as these will make you culprit for some crime.
May be that person he is asking to blamed for the steal of the laptop is good man and if he did not do that then he will try to prove that.
If he proves that he has no stolen the laptop then the question will be raised on you and people will ask you even that person also that why you said that when he is not involved , your reputation in front of the people will be thrashed and your boss will not help you as he will try to make his image good.
so never help those who tey to use you for their profit.

If your boss has already know the culprit he can definetly ask him because he has the write to ask the workers. As he is not doing so it is very risk for you to give the evidence that the person who ever the boss saying is the culprit so don't say lies to all the workers and don't make your colleague the culprit.
think whether your friend is good or your boss.think in a better way and do what ever you wanted to do.

    all the best

    thank you

It is unfortunate that this situation is being faced by you so you have to deals this situation with tact.I believe that it is not appropriate to take up this type of matters even your boss advised to do as you have no eye witness and you have never seen it physically. So inform your boss politely that it needs to be investigated. If your boss is not convinced then you have to try to convenience him or else or otherwise it is too difficult to work in this circumstances. But you dont try to proceed further to give evidence as boss told cause its reflects very badly the concerned employee's life and his career and that leads to many problems later. If he is not a such type of man, you will be the only person to answer if any things happens against him.you should be finding ways to push back. Now itís totally upto you.
