My boss is asking me to work overtime for a few days due to my inability to complete my work on time

I am working in a private firm. From the past one week I havenít been able to complete my work on time due to some problem or the other. Now my boss wants me to work overtime for the next few days so that I donít repeat this mistake again. I am really very dejected right now. What should be done in such a situation?

    Hello Friend,

I totally understand that working overtime has built up unnecessary stress on you. However, you have accepted that due to some problem, you have not been able to complete your work on time. It's always good to be honest and sincere at work. I know that it will be a painful task for you to work overtime; but at the end of the day, believe me my friend, after completing your pending work, you will get and immense satisfaction and likewise your boss will also feel satisfied and happy. In fact, this will definitely leave a good impression on your boss and also make you more sincere towards your work.

So, dear, do not frown or panic and curse your boss, just think that your work is your baby and you will start enjoying the overtime as well..

    Thanks,
    Ritz

Your boss not respond then you can do the extra hours
You can daily complete your work on time

There is nothing to feel dejected .In fact this is not a big issue ! In life we have to face a number of hardships. Compared to such hardships, this is just a simple issue. The actual thing is that, you have been unable to finish your task within the stipulated time, and this has been happening for a week or so. This means that the pending work is continuously been piled up. No private concern is going to accept it, if work is continuously been piled up any employee. Your boss is answerable to the management every time you fail to finish the scheduled work on time. This is the sole reason why your boss wants you to work overtime in order to make up the deficit.

    Hello Aspirant,

You must be prompt in your works, because CTC is calculated in a company per employee.Being employee in a pvt.firm, you should not be lacking in works completion unless & until you have unavoidable reasons. So you must follow the orders of your boss to complete the pending work otherwise the management may take action against you.

Because one work is depending upon others,so due to being pending of your works, the management might be facing some problem,so you must consider it urgent to complete the works by doing over time.It seems you don't have any unavoidable reason to excuse you.So take the matter seriously & do your work by doing over time.

    Good luck.

    Dear Aspirant,

You must be sincere enough to complete the office works in time.Being an employee in a pvt. company, you should give first priority to complete the office works other wise you may not be allowed to work in the company.

Since you have have not completed your office works in time for the last few days, you must complete it by doing over time.If you have some unavoidable reason, you can explain to the manager otherwise do your works in time.Getting work done by the employees is the main work of the manager & if the manager fails in his works,he will have problems with the management. So he may not excuse you for not doing the work in time.

So pl. take it serious & complete the works in time .

    Thanks & good luck.

    Hi,

You must be quicker in completing your work.
Though you were not able to do your work on time due to some reasons,
you must work overtime if your boss says so.
It is just for few days , do it for your boss.

And apologize to your boss politely with a smile.
A smile can make everything perfect.
Do not feel dejected, it the nature boss to punish the employees for their mistakes.

And also apologize by saying that you will never repeat it again.
Promise him that you will be regular.

    Thankyou

    hello,
dont get so upset and dejected find a good alternative for this and it may help you from this.your boss done a good job and he should be appreciated for not removing from your position.
as you said it is overtime working then ask your boss to give him another collegue who is willing to do,so that you can both share the work and can complete the work as soon as possible.
if you dont want to do over time then directly ask your boss and promise him that he will complete your job within time and ask him to give some extra days to complete previous one.
    thank you..............

Your responsibilty to your company is most.

You have to complete your work in time.

If you had any problem then you have to show that to your boss.

If you were really in fault then you have to complete your work.

As you have/will be paid for that work so you have to complete that by doing extra work in over time.

Re: My boss is asking me to work overtime for a few days due to my inability to complete my work on time

It is completely understandable that sometimes one cannot complete his/her work on time due to any possible reason or problem, but see as he is your boss he wants his work in time, and as you were not able to complete the work assigned to you so he has all possible reasons for giving you punishment for that as he will consider is as your mistake, he doesn't have anything to do with your problems. You don't need to be dejected these things happen to many employees, it is a few days task. But the thing you must keep in mind is that you have to make some changes in your time management plans so that you don't have to face such thing in future. Take it as a challenge and work hard to show your boss your caliber.
