I have never offended my boss but still he is never happy with me and my work

I am working in a software company. I have always learnt to respect my boss and thus have never offended him any way whatsoever. But inspite of all this, he never seems to be happy with me or my work. What to do in such a situation as I want to make a mark in my career?

    Dear Aspirant,

The employee should be more concentrated on works & behaviour in professional career in order to rise in life.If you are update in knowledge, works & behaviour, there seems no chance not to rise in professional career.

So you should see that whether you are update in those things or not.If not, work well to update them. You can not say by seeing the behaviour of your boss that he is not happy with you until he harms you.In spite of your update in works,if you are ignored for right & promotion, then you can challenge it by reporting the same matter to HR & still higher official. Some person looks very serious, but internally very cooperative & supportive. So your boss may be in this category.

So see your position & then guess on your boss whether he is happy or not.

    Thanks & good luck.

    Hi,
In this world there are different types of persons and they have different nature too. So first identify your boss nature and then according to that carry on your work. I am pretty sure that till now you are not judge your boss nature that's why these types of problem happen with you. Be relax for a second and then start with lots of positive energy and perform your task and i am sure that you do good and hard work.
As you also mention that you "respect your boss and thus have never offended him any way whatsoever" , but dear respect is ok but also there are some other points which a boss accept from their employee's.
That's why i am saying identify your boss nature and then you will get positive response from boss side.

    Thanks

For what it's value, your boss is perhaps a really sad guy. "Controlling perfectionists grew up feeling inferior themselves," Cavaiola says and, in an exceedingly variation of the Stockholm Syndrome, "they adopt the worldview of whoever criticized them unceasingly as kids, typically a psychologically abusive parent.
"These square measure folks that square measure miserable," he adds. "And misery loves company." that does not mean, however, that you just got to let this boss cause you to as sad as he's. Cavaiola recommends 5 methods for coping:
    1. do not take his constant carping in person. Easier aforementioned than done, of course, however bear in mind that eight folks before you quit this job, thus clearly the matter isn't you. you will be a lot of less stressed if you'll be able to keep some emotional distance. apply reminding yourself that this is often simply the means he's. instead of riveting his wrath (and feeling "like associate retard," as you say), try and let it bounce off you.
    2. ne'er reply to his rants in a similar way. "Stay cool, calm, and picked up," Cavaiola advises. "Some dominant perfectionists show pride in obtaining others nettled up, thus lashing out or being defensive simply makes them worse."
    3. Get regeneration from alternative sources. "No matter what number hoops you jump through, it'll ne'er be enough for this person," says Cavaiola. "Trying to manage this in isolation can eventually destroy your confidence." thus get support elsewhere. Cavaiola recommends finding a mentor or 2, within or outside your company, to provide you the encouragement and constructive criticism you are not obtaining from your boss.
"You additionally would like somebody you'll be able to vent with," like a mate or a fan, "as a sounding board and a reality check," he adds. In fact.
    4. do not suffer in silence. "Let somebody else within the organization grasp that you are sad with however you are being treated," Cavaiola suggests. "Ask that the data be unbroken confidential, and do not expect any action within the short term. however likelihood is smart that you are not the sole one having issues with this person. If enough folks complain, decision-makers could note."

respecting your boss is not the only way you expect growth in your life and career yes,its important that you respect your higher ups and never leave that good quality but success can be achieved with experience and talent upgrade techniques only be smart and minimize your tasks to achieve accuracy at work these days every employee does make hard work and efforts which are required to get the project work done in software company but question is that how well you as team member executed the project and do give idea which change your quality service to company.. don't expect of becoming something but believe in doing expectations and achievement are totally different and they differ at many level of work..converting every opportunity in success and utilizing the given resources and do some different and unique work would always make you special.. boss is liking us or not is not the issue you are not at the office to please him its you who should develop your skills and software skills and learn to deal with people and the work challenges which is more important to you in particular.. sometimes we work hard and we be so serious at work but it seems that people who have good negotiations with boss and be in their good books its a fact that if boss never likes us after all the hard work we do also your boss will not pay attention then you should ignore him and never try to please others at work be good and be friendly give your best as possible .. you work in software company i believe that there are many services a software company provides like platforms like JAVA ORACLE DATA BASE MANAGEMENT , BUSINESS SAP MODULES so do the certifications study for it and improve your value don't wait for others or your boss to notice you great people believe in doing things rather to check whether are noticed by all or not? these thinking capabilities and mindset of getting something you do can never do good to you.. believe in what best you can do to improve your self and develop personality and thinking power...

firstly to make your career in private organisation is to create a value and standard towards to skill set believe in setting some standards and have the knowledge in the project you do do the project assigned to you before the deadline set and its important that you personally meet your boss and ask him about your work what are the lapses at work its important that you know yourself and start improving its not that you eradicate weakness but to improvise your skills and your work efficiency.. when you communicate well to him and know what is the reason your failing to impress him will do a favor to your self..

Now a days, favouritism is very popular in official areas. I have seen many people complaining about undue advantage given to selected staffs who belong to the good-book of the boss. As per your statement, you dont belong to your boss's good book. That is why you have not been able to come into the lime light at your office. In order to be a favourite of your boss, you have to seek his attention either by your improved performance,or by oiling him . The first choice is indeed difficult but I believe it a better option as your respect will not be at stake.Better performance from your side will definitely attract his attention.
