How to tell my boss that he is interfering with the teams work too much?

How do I politely tell my boss that he is interfering with the teams work too much? He takes a note of everything like how soon we reply to mails, how much time we spent talking to each other etc. During team meetings he gives us advice on how much time we should spend on lunch, how to reply to emails etc. It is not exactly encouraging for the team.

    Hey.
First of all I agree that situations like these are bothering and if they continue for a long time they can start causing a dislike in the behaviour of the person towards his work. This is not a very good sign and in turn leads to bad work environment. Such situations need to be tackled before they get onto your nerves and hamper your productivity at work. For this purpose I suggest the following to you:
    1. You can begin by showing certain signs of agitation in your behaviour when your boss keeps pestering you for the most little things. This will make your boss realize that you are not liking his interfernce in your work to this extent.
    2. You can also cite some examples during your team meetings wherein you tell the team as well as your boss how providing freedom of thought and expression to the employees proved to be beneficial to the company.
    3. Incase your boss doesn't take these cues then you should write an email to him and very politely tell him how his over interference in your work is not helping you but on the contrary is demoralizing you. You can mention that you understand his concern towards the employees but you feel that working independently would prove to be beneficial for the company.
    4. The last resort can be talking to your face to face and telling him you took previous measures to tell him first indirectly and then directly through mail but since you dint receive a reply you decided to tell him personally.

A little patience is what is required from your side. All the best. I hope your boss sees through this situation.

    Thank you..

You can tell him in a simple and easy way.

Explain the reasons clearly to him how you are facing problems with that interference.

    Give some examples like

    -it is effecting resource utilization
    -it is effecting productivity
-it is not developing encouragement and motivation.

If he realized then it is ok, otherwise you can approach the respective higher level authorities for this.
