    How is a salary hike calculated?

    I have joined an IT firm before 11 months and would be finishing a year in one more month. What are the components on which my salary hike be calculated?

Your performance in the company would matter a lot for your salary to be increased and how good you are in presenting yourself during your one year in that company. There would be a fixed hike in some companies inspite of your performance, but sometimes you would not have any hike if the performance is poor. This all depends on the hike policy of your company. Also, the revenue of your company would also add a lot to your hike. If the company is performing extraordinarily, then there might be a chance for you to be surprised with your salary increase.

However, there are companies where you will see fixed hike or no hike at all, as per the company's overall performance also.

    hike% depends upon the market growth,sector/industry you work,performance of the company,overall distribution amount,performance of an individual,etc.these all depends on the top management decisions.it all depends upon your performance in the industry during an year.the scale of hike is as per ratings:if you get 1-poor(5% hike or no increment) 2-fair(5-10% hike) 3-satisfied(10-15% hike) 4-good(15-30% hike) 5-excellent(30% or more hike)
