    How many paid leaves, on an average, does a company gives to its employees in a year?

    I have recently job my job in a software company. I am really confused about the company’s policies regarding the leaves. I wanted to know that how many leaves , on an average, does a company provides to its employees in a year? Does this vary from company to company? Please guide me in the right direction.

    Hello Aspirant,

    It is quite natural to know in details for the leave you will utilise in a year in order to look after your personal matters.The personal matters may be any thing such as looking after parents,going on tour,education of children etc.

    The leave policy differs from company to company.There are generally the following kinds of leave being sanctioned to employees:-

    1. casual leave:-it is genrally 8 to 12 days in a year.You can avail it in any urgent case.This leave is sanctioned with full pay.You can avail it either in advance or after completion of period of services,but within a calender year which startas from January to December.You can avail maximum for 10 days at a time along with your weekly off or compensatory off or any govt.& national holiday.

    2.Earn leave:- It is generally 30 days in a year but you can accumulate it for 300 days in your credit in your service period.There are provision of paying cash for 15 days in a year on surrendering it.You can avail this leave for months together for a period of maximum three months with full pay except house rent allownaces,provided you have it in credit

    3.Medical Leave:-It is usually 15 days for a year.This leave can also be accumulated & can be utilised with pay provided you are sick & hospitalised or you need rest for recovery from yopur illness/sickness.
