    How to boost up employee’s confidence before his interaction with an important client?

    I am the boss of a small branch of a multinational company. In of our recent consignments,en employee of ours will have to interact with an important client of the company. But he is a bit nervous. How to boost up his confidence? Please suggest.

    See you are the boss of the branch which means that you are the top most authority in that branch, the biggest thing that can give him confidence is your backing. Once he gets that you are completing backing him he will automatically become confident. See as the client is important one so it is obvious that your employee might be little bit nervous as every thing depends on him. It would be better that you try to show confidence in him whenever he meets you regarding this work. It would be much better that you work with him little bit so that you can also know the problems he might have during the conversation. Try to help him in preparing for the interaction a little bit. Once he finds himself doing things right in front of you he will gain a lot of confidence. Don't overload him with suggestion while he prepares or gives a demo in front of you just try to give some tips so that the interaction can be more effective if you see some problems.

    Dear Friend,

    You are the boss and the caretaker of your team. So you will have to understand the areas of improvements of your team mates which I feel that you are understanding.

    Few steps that can help you to boost the confidence of your team mate who has to frequently handle your client are as follows:

    1) Make the candidate realize about his strengths and let him know that you have assigned him this important work because he is a capable resource of yours. This would give him a sense of responsibility and would also give him a bit of confidence.

    2) Ask the candidate to prepare in writing the agenda of the call ie the points that he needs to discuss with the client. In addition, suggest him to be prepare for all the questions that you or he thinks that the client might ask him. Preparing in advance will definitely boost the confidence of your resource.

    3) Moreover, advise your resource to practise some mock calls (where perhaps you or some other resource can pretend as the client to be on call) a day before or a couple of hours before so that even you could know and improve his way of handling the client. I myself have practised this and believe me it does help in building confidence.

    4) Lastly, tell him that the client is also a person like us, so he just needs to be very cool but responsible..

    As a boss it is your duty to boost confidence in the employee.

    Tell the employee the reason why he chosen for the meeting.

    Explain him his strengths and motivate him to gain confidence.

    It is an opportunity for the employee to attain higher levels of goals in his career.

    The employee has got this job by his hard work and professional skills, so he should not be nervous.

    As this the important meeting, it is very essential for the employee to have confidence.

    Tell him all the above points and start practicing for the meeting.

    You can try to act the part of meeting with the employee, so that he gains confidence.

    This will help instill confidence.

    Its really good to see that you are concerned regarding one of your employee,and want to boost him up so that he is successful in handling the client.See, being the boss you can call him to your cabin and exchange a few words that would boost up his confidence.Firstly you have to make him understand that you have enough confidence in him.This will automatically charge up his mind and he will feel positive.Exchanging some inspirational words like -" I have full confidence in you", "You can do it" will definitely boost his self confidence.If you can guide him the way such clients must be handled, and give him some clear instructions,then I think it will be easier for him to do the task smoothly.Pass on your work experiences so that he can follow your guidelines and be successful in his interaction.

    Before interacting with the important client employee should be well prepared for that what he is going to discuss with him because if he is sure that he is well prepared for the deal then he will gain the confidence automatically because there will be no chance of mistake at that moment of time, so if your employee is getting nervous before these meetings then he need to do meditation before he go for the interaction. as this will help him to concentrate on the motive.
    He should not think about the result just he need to be frank with the client so that he should feel that everything is going smoothly.
    He should be motivated before he is going for meeting he should not take the negative points in his mind and he must think positively.
    Before going for the meeting what all points he needs to discuss should keep in his mind thoroughly so that no problem occurs.
    He need to be that much good that he never feel any casualities.
