Had a brawl with one of my colleagues during my notice period

I am working in a government organisation and am serving my notice period right now. Just yesterday I had a brawl with one of my colleagues and now I am afraid as to what punishment will I get. Can my notice period be extended as my punishment? Is it legal to do so ?

    Hi aspirant

If you are not guilty and were not the reason of that brawl, then you should not worry about your punishment as only the defaulter will be eligible for the punishment. I hope your manager takes the right decision in this matter and only the culprit is punished. So if you haven't done anything wrong, you need not be afraid. You should go and tell your manager what happened that day and I am sure that he won't be punishing you.

But in case you started the fight, then you also know that you deserve the punishment as you should definitely have acted in a more mature way. You should go and apologize to your manager and also to your colleague. then maybe your manager will not punish you. I don't think that he will extend your notice period but it depends upon the company's rules. You should not worry about that and just apologize if you made the mistake.

I hope that you have understood my point and that justice will be served to you. Good luck

    Hello..

Friend now a days in a government organisation any thing can happen , I can't say that you will be punished or not, it depends upon your work background and relationship with your boss that he will extend your notice period or not and the thing , you are asking about "legal" , being a employee what can you do if your senior is extending your notice period , you will file a case against him , the answer is no. So my dear friend if you had a brawl then just simply go and except your mistake and say sorry to him and your boss, then might be some things will go in your favor.

    thanks.
