Is it good to write the Leave letters in paper or send it in mail to my Manager? Which is advisable?

I have newly joined in the company and now I need to take 2 days leave but I have no idea how to write the leave letter in a professional way, whether to write the leave letter in a A4 paper or send it in mail? To whom should I write? To my Manager or to the HR? Can you please tell me the information with proper details?

As every body know that mailing is the easiest way to inform and pass information further to the concerned authorities, but as you want leave for 2 days, I recommend you to please use a hand written application on A4 size paper and personally handover it to your manager, as this includes your personal interaction with your manager which will help you in any future issue regarding the applied leave and also it will help you in other ways. Please remember that, leaves are forwarded to manager, not to HRs, please reach the HR is case of any serious issue, which cannot be solved at manager level.

    Dear..

Paper application is good in schools only, If you want a leave then its better to draft a mail to your immediate manager stating that you want leaves for 2 days and also mention the purpose also.

You should not a mail directly to the HR, Managers are there to grant you leaves and HR only approves it on the basis of the need of the company.

Writing on a A4 size paper is good but outdated as we are living in a generation where A4 size papers are less recommended over mails.

    Good luck

Today normally, in most of the organization leave is managed through a Software.
You can apply to leaves and check your leave balance through the software
Each employee is given the User id and password for the software.

But if in your Company, if no such facility is there, than you should apply the leaves through your official email address.
The mail should be addressed and sent to to immediate boss.

In your Mail, you just need to write that you require two days leave, mention the dates and the reason.
Also after sending the Mail, speak to him verbally.

After his approval, you can take the leave.

    Dear..

Writing applications on a paper are things of stone age now, Nobody has a time to see your time application written on the paper and even you will not be having any proof that you have sent that application. Its better to write the email to your boss as well as keep the HR of the company in CC and write the letter telling them that you need leave for a couple of days. a copy will therefore saved in your sent mail folder also and you can also expect a prompt reply from your boss.

Dear you are now in a professional work environment so its better to write an email instead of paper application.

    Hope it will help

    Cheers...!!!

When we were in school, we used to write leave applications to the school master to grant leaves however you are grown up now and working in an organisation. Electronic way is faster, cheaper, effective way, time consuming process and it work as a proof for reference in future as well. Only manager can approve your leave so you need to write and send to manager through e-mail. You can also explain the reason behind your leaves and approval is on manager's hands.

    Hi friend,

Based on the situation you need to select the type of letter.

---> In emergency cases put the email letter.

---> If not emergency situation then write the letter on paper.

It would be better for writing the letter on papar.Because you need to maintain the rules of the company. If you are unable to email the leave letter also give the complaint letter to your colleque or give the letter after you coming back or make call regarding leave before taking leave.

You should be in advance for taking the leave.
Because some companies won't provide the leave if you didn't take the leave.
For taking leave without asking permission you will be fined in your salary.

    Thank you...............

Both the paper mode and Email (Online) Mode are used in the practical life in the company for taking the leave. But both are used at different situation and time. In case of emergency leave, the email mode is used to take leave, as it's fast and conviniant. But in normal cases, only paper mode are used, as it can be kept as proof. If you are in office, it's not a good way to take the leave through email, it's give a bad impression. However the format of both the leave mode application are same. The leave must be intimated to your manager in advance. It's necessary that you must get the approval for the leave application, without approval taking leaves will have a serious consequences.. In the application you should properly mention the number of days needed and date of the beginning and end of the leave.

    Hi,

If you are talking about the leave letter on A4 size paper and email for the same, then of course sending an email is the good option. Writing an application for leaves is the process which get follows in the school and colleges not in the company. As now you became professional, then you should write an decent email to your immediate manager about your leaves with the dates and proper reason.

By the way I would like to let you know that now a days each and every company has a software to apply the leaves. They divides the leaves in some parts like Sick leave, Casual Leave, Earned leave. As per your requirement, you can apply the leaves on portal and mention the reason if needed and submit the same. Once you will submit it your manager will get the intimation on the same. He will get to know that you have applied for the leaves and will either approve or reject it. In case of rejection you can talk to manager in person and can tell them your emergency to get the same approved.

To get to know about the leave software which company uses, you can either talk to your manager or HR. If you are hesitating to ask about it to your manager then ask it to your HR. He/She will definitely let you know about the same.

    Hello,

If you are a new employee to the company and if you have no idea how to write a professional letter then you should seek help from your colleagues and ask them how to write the professional letters.

They will surely help you to do the same.

And it is better to write a mail .

Because if you write a letter then it may be lost , it may happen that it will not be reached to him.

But if you mail him then he will surely receive it.

and in any circumstance you will have prove that you have sent it as it will be in your sent box.

and its better to inform your Manager than to inform your HR.

    Thank you
