No you ahve to apply for the PHD and follow the admission procedures
Now UGC has laid down the guidelines and all the univerities have to follow it

THey take a written test followed by interview
If you are UGC-NET qualified you will get the exemption from written test only

Since you are highly experienced , getiing through these tests will not be problem for you
so you should go ahead and apply for PHd

First of all you won't be able to give any PhD entrance exam ,as for most of these exams like UGC NET

you would not be eligible as maximum age for those exams is 28 years + 5 years in any other circumstances like reserved

    categories.

If you want to do a PhD than you can apply under a professor for doing the same ,you can contact to any of the professor under whom

you like to do a PhD ,if he accepts you than you can do a PhD under him.
